BR-102021010942-B1 - Mechanical device for opening and closing doors for different types of handles, ball or lever, operated by foot pedal.
Abstract
Mechanical device for opening and closing doors for different types of handles, ball or lever, operated by foot pedal. Adaptable mechanism for various door models operated by foot, through a non-slip pedal, allowing, due to its configuration, the function of opening and closing the door without needing to touch the handle. This is mounted on the door body and fits onto the handle, whether it is a ball or lever type, with specific coupling for each type, which are also adjustable. This device allows for easy use even with hands occupied, or for people with special needs, whether due to absence of arms or coordination deficit, and also as a tool during pandemics, such as COVID-19, or against the spread of viruses and bacteria in general. The device is based on sets that work in unison, consisting of the pedal (1) which in turn activates the connecting rod (2), and also the device that connects to the handle, represented by (3), this being of two types, (3.1) and (3a). The whole system is also secured by springs or elastomers (1c.1) and (1d), assisting in a gradual pressing process that does not break the device as well as a return to the (...).

Description
[001] The present invention relates to the development of a mechanical device with the function of allowing, in an easy and safe way, the opening and closing of doors for different types of handles, whether lever or ball, operated by a pedal. [002] Its structural fabrication can be presumed to be based on ferrous or non-ferrous metal alloys, or pure metals, or even biodegradable or non-biodegradable thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers, synthetic or natural, associated with rubbers, springs and elastomers, or any existing or future material and manufacturing process that allows its production, such as casting, powder metallurgy, injection, forming, machining, extrusion and 3D printing, and it can be used in various environments: indoor, outdoor; public, private; commercial and industrial. [003] The state of the art reveals that a large part of door handle models are designed to be used for opening doors by hand. In this way, the person opening the door may be subject to contamination due to the presence of bacteria and/or viruses that accumulate on constantly handled surfaces, such as the door handle. In addition, conventional door handle models, whether ball-type or lever-type, may not be ideal when the individual who will handle it has some physical or motor limitation, or when it is necessary to open the door with their hands occupied carrying any objects. [004] In order to solve the inconveniences of conventional door handle models, the object of the present invention, a MECHANICAL DEVICE FOR OPENING AND CLOSING DOORS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF DOOR HANDLES, BALL OR LEVER, OPERATED BY A PEDAL, was designed to be operated with the feet, in an ergonomic manner, promoting comfort and safety to the feet when used. The door opening and closing device by pedal also aims to facilitate the flow of people in environments, allowing the transport of objects with the hands, at the same time as opening or closing the door. [005] The MECHANICAL DEVICE FOR OPENING AND CLOSING DOORS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF HANDLE, BALL OR LEVER, OPERATED BY A PEDAL, also allows accessibility for people with motor limitations, since the device is operated by the foot instead of by the hand and, furthermore, because it has a system of springs or elastomers or any mechanical, hydraulic, air or electrical system that allows safe and controlled operation, which, in turn, can prevent injuries to people and damage to the operating mechanism and the handle mechanism, since these can both cushion the pressure of the foot assembly on the pedal and handle and assist during the return of the pedal to its original position, an event that could cause an abrupt rebound on the mechanism. [006] The MECHANICAL DEVICE FOR OPENING AND CLOSING DOORS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF HANDLES, BALL OR LEVER, OPERATED BY A PEDAL is also a system that avoids hand contact with the door handle, thus preventing the transmission of diseases and contamination through bacteria and viruses, such as COVID-19, which has made the world rethink its habits and lifestyles. Therefore, the application of the proposed device, the subject of this invention, is not only efficient but also convenient, practical, hygienic, and safe. In this sense, it is also especially useful in restaurant kitchens, snack bars, and any establishment in the food industry, allowing for food handling without contact with a surface where germs constantly proliferate. [007] It can also represent a zero carbon footprint without the need for electricity or even technical labor for its installation, since it is easy to fix and connect with conventional door handles, which makes it an excellent cost-benefit. [008] According to a technological overview that portrays the current scenario regarding solutions in this same segment, the following inventions are identified in the state of the art: CN102367720 refers to a foot-operated door handle. This is mounted on the door body. The door body is articulated in a door frame by means of hinges; a door handle that is used to open a door by manual rotation is arranged in a middle part of the door body. The invention US7270352 includes an elongated housing having openings at its upper and lower ends. The lower end of the housing carries a hook that engages with the lower edge of the door. The invention CN108756506 describes a bathroom door of the foot-operated type, comprising a connecting line, a door handle, a door lock, an opening induction plate, and a closing induction plate. The invention CN102226373 has a coil-driven system for rolling up a louvered door. It has a roller that actuates the door lever to move along the upper and lower tracks. The invention CN209114996 for a bathroom door comprises a door plate, a first frame, a second frame, a fixing block, and a foot-operated plate. The invention BR202017014591-9 is operated by the act of "lifting t
