Abstract

The present invention describes a device installed in the environments where the patient/individual usually stays and, using sensing systems, captures and transmits data from the individual and the environment itself to a remote platform that monitors the patient through a machine learning model. On this platform, a family member or responsible professional is able to monitor the patient's data through a panel that concentrates the most relevant information. The device in question uses computer vision techniques and transmits only the captured data to the platform, i.e., without transmitting images of the individual, respecting their privacy. The present invention falls within the fields of telemetry, machine learning, data analysis, and people monitoring.

Description

Field of Invention [0001]. This report covers confidential knowledge, information and/or data usable in industry, commerce or service provision, for which the holder requests: the protection established in item XXIX of Article 5 of the Federal Constitution; the maintenance of the legal status of confidentiality/secrecy; the maintenance of the physical status of confidentiality/secrecy for the time period stipulated in Law 9.279/96, the Industrial Property Law; and the rights provided for in Article 195 of Law 9.279/96. The present invention falls within the fields of telemetry, machine learning, data analysis and people monitoring. Background of the Invention [0002]. Some people live in a state of fragility, disability, or functional impairment and require constant care and monitoring, often provided by a specialized professional. This applies to people with some functional or mobility impairment, especially the elderly. There are situations in which dedicated and exclusive professional monitoring becomes unfeasible, for example, due to high costs or even lack of freedom for the patient being monitored. [0003]. Given this, some of these debilitated individuals choose to live normally in their own homes, seeking to maintain a normal routine. However, their own homes can be a place of risk for these people, as there is a possibility of domestic accidents, such as falls. In these cases, information about the accident ends up reaching the responsible family member or professional late or not at all. [0004] There are currently some solutions for sensing and monitoring patients or elderly people in these conditions, such as wearable devices that monitor falls and some of the patient's vital signs. Devices such as bracelets, watches, pendants, etc., are attached to patients, capturing the data to which they are configured, and send this information to a family member or responsible professional - often only sending an alert of some occurrence. However, these devices, in addition to being uncomfortable, place the responsibility for their use directly on the patient, as there is a risk that the patient may remove the device, for example, to take a shower, and forget to put it back on, compromising the entire monitoring process. [0005]. Other systems aim to capture video images and thus allow direct monitoring of the patient. However, privacy is completely lost, and sensitive patient data is transmitted. [0006]. Thus, the state of the art lacks a solution that allows for the safe monitoring of frail individuals, the elderly, or any beings who require assistance, relieving the patient of the responsibility for monitoring and respecting their privacy. [0007]. Thus, as can be inferred from the literature reviewed, no documents were found anticipating or suggesting the teachings of the present invention, so the solution proposed here has novelty and inventive activity compared to the state of the art. Summary of the Invention [0008]. Thus, the present invention solves the problems of the prior art by means of a device installed in the environments where the patient/individual usually stays and, using sensing systems, captures and transmits data from the collected events to a remote platform, which monitors the individual through a previously trained machine learning model. On this platform, a family member or responsible professional is able to monitor the patient's data through a panel that concentrates the most relevant information. The device in question uses computer vision techniques and transmits only the captured data to the platform, i.e., without transmitting images of the individual, respecting their privacy. Furthermore, the solution proposed here avoids the responsibility of monitoring falling on the patient, since the device is installed directly in the environment and operates autonomously. [0009]. It is an object of the present invention, a kit for monitoring an individual in an environment, comprising a base, provided with an embedded processing unit, and one or more sensors embedded in a monitoring device, wherein the one or more sensors capture information related to the individual and the environment; said information being sent to a remote receiver by the processing unit. [0010]. It is also an object of the present invention a method for monitoring an individual in an environment, said method implemented by means of the device described above positioned in the environment, such that, for example, one device is placed per environment - depending on the size of the environment. [0011]. It is also an object of the present invention a system for monitoring an individual in an environment, comprising at least one monitoring device (10) disposed in at least one environment, said monitoring device (10) communicating with a base (20) and having one or more sensors that collect data relating to the individual and the environment, wherein such data are sent to the base (20). [0012]. It is also an object of the
