Description
Field of Invention [0001] The present invention falls within the field of internal components of the air conditioning and thermal management system of a vehicle. [0002] More specifically, the present invention relates to an auxiliary air conditioning system with Peltier modules for start-stop application. Background of the Invention [0003] Mild hybrid vehicles (MHEVs) generally equipped with combustion engines have a mechanical compressor coupled to the engine's belt drive in their climate control system. Therefore, their efficiency is directly related to the operation of the combustion engine. [0004] This logic of operation of the mechanical compressor is consistent with the logic of operation of the start-stop system. The start-stop system is responsible for automatically shutting off the engine when the vehicle stops, and is used in various everyday situations, for example, when the vehicle stops at a traffic light. The system also automatically restarts the car as soon as the driver accelerates or takes their foot off the brake. This system helps to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2. [0005] Thus, when the engine shuts off, the drive shaft in turn stops rotating, and consequently shuts off the compressor. This generates consequences in the refrigeration system, as the cyclical shutdown of the compressor abruptly affects the cooling of the vehicle's passenger compartment. [0006] To mitigate this problem, the proposed installation of Peltier modules in the air ducts serves as an electrical alternative to compensate for the lack of operation of the refrigeration compressor or even eliminate the loss of performance of the air conditioning system when the start-stop function is activated. [0007] The Peltier effect (also known as Peltier electromotive force) is the production of a temperature gradient at the junction of two conductors (or semiconductors) of different materials when subjected to an electrical voltage in a closed circuit. [0008] The thermal energy dissipated/absorbed is proportional to the electric current flowing through the system. The Peltier Tablet is a thermoelectric cooler that, through control and an appropriate power supply, has the ability to heat or cool objects that touch its surface in a matter of minutes. Its versatile functionality allows for wide application in projects, such as those commonly used in computers, refrigerators, water filters, freezers, etc. [0009] Currently, the state of the art does not include satisfactory inventions capable of solving the problem described above, which highlights the need for new solutions. The main solutions revealed by the state of the art, as well as their disadvantages and defects, will be presented below. [0010] Document JP2003320843A discloses a vehicle air conditioning system that uses Peltier elements to control the thermal regulation of the vehicle's interior. The vehicle's air conditioning system comprises a solar battery located on an external surface of a vehicle; and a Peltier element unit electrically connected to the solar battery and arranged so that a heat absorption surface faces the interior of an air blowing duct to exchange heat with the air in the air blowing duct, and a heat release surface faces the exterior of the cabin through a fairing provided on the front of the vehicle to allow heat exchange with the air outside the cabin. However, the document does not disclose or mention the possibility of activating the proposed Peltier element air conditioning system in conjunction with the vehicle's start-stop system, as proposed by the present invention. [0011] Document KR20120002685A describes an air conditioning device for vehicles that uses a Peltier element to prevent environmental contamination and increase engine efficiency. The system includes a blower unit, a duct, multiple air outlets, and a thermoelectric module. The duct directs air from the blower unit into the vehicle's interior, and the air outlets release this air into the interior. The thermoelectric module, which contains the Peltier element and a main radiator, cools or heats the air as needed. When an electric current is applied to the Peltier element, the upper plate cools and the lower plate heats, allowing control of the temperature of the air passing through the outlets. However, the document does not disclose or mention any integration or operation related to the vehicle's start-stop system, as proposed by the present invention. [0012] Thus, considering the solutions of the state of the art, it is evident that none of them has been able to solve the technical problem associated with the need to manufacture an auxiliary air conditioning system with Peltier modules for start-stop application, capable of increasing the efficiency of the vehicle's air conditioning system during engine shutdown periods, and which is lightweight and compact. It should be noted that none of the prior art addresses or provides sufficient insights
