Description

Innovation Field [001] This patent application proposes a solution to the problem of installing reverse gears with threads, more specifically a tool for screwing and unscrewing reverse gears with threads onto the ends of the input shaft and output shaft of motorcycle gearboxes. Preamble [002] This patent application relates to a tool for screwing and unscrewing two types of threaded reversing gears on the ends of the input shaft and output shaft of HARLEY DAVIDSON motorcycle gearboxes, being for threaded reversing gears for all types of devices with a reversing system for gearboxes, and exclusively for reversing gears of the BESTREVERSE reversing system kit for gearboxes, as it is the only one that accommodates the constructive arrangement applied in a directional lever for handling the intermediate gear of a motorcycle gearbox reversing system, as described in patent application no. BR 20 2024 018023 8 of 01/09/2024. Fundamentals of Innovation [003] The input shaft is connected to the clutch system and receives movement from the internal combustion engine; the output shaft is connected to the rear wheel via a toothed belt or chain. The various gears on the shafts allow the transmission to have several speed ratios. Under normal conditions, the input and output shafts rotate in opposite directions. The outer cover houses the clutch actuator and seals the transmission, keeping the lubricating oil inside. Currently, there is no specific tool on the market for screwing and unscrewing reverse gears with threads on the ends of the input and output shafts of HARLEY DAVIDSON motorcycle transmissions. What exists are homemade mechanisms, such as a steel piece with a central hole and five holes on the edge to insert iron pins. These pins are fitted between the teeth of the threaded reverse gears to lock them in place. After locking, they are rotated (screwed) onto the ends of the input and output shafts of the transmission until the necessary torque is applied to secure the gears. Common Problems with Gear Installation Tools [004] Inadequate or poorly designed tools for installing gears can cause several problems. Often, they do not provide the correct torque, resulting in over- or under-tightening, which can damage the threads or cause play in the gears. In addition, low-quality tools may wear out quickly or not fit the threads correctly, increasing the risk of failures during operation. [005] Another common problem is the lack of ergonomics, which makes using these tools difficult and tiring, especially in repetitive tasks. These problems can lead to mechanical failures, increased repair time, and additional maintenance costs. [006] This description simplifies the main challenges associated with using inadequate tools for gear installation. Innovation Summary [007] This tool is specifically designed to facilitate the process of threading and unthreading reverse gears on motorcycles, especially those with threads on the ends of the gearbox input and output shafts. Made from high-strength materials, the tool offers precision and durability, ensuring that gears are installed and removed safely and efficiently. Its ergonomic design allows for comfortable handling, while its compatibility with different thread sizes makes it a versatile solution for mechanics and motorcycle enthusiasts. Ideal for maintenance, repairs, and fine-tuning of reverse transmission systems. [008] In view of the inconveniences found in the state of the art, the subject matter of this patent application was developed, which consists of a “TOOL FOR INSTALLING REVERSING GEARS FOR MOTORCYCLE GEARBOXES”, where its technical advantages compared to current models are; a) Efficiency and Precision: The tool is designed to ensure a perfect fit on gear threads, allowing for precise threading and unthreading, which significantly reduces the risk of damage to parts. b) Durability: Constructed with high-strength materials, the tool is robust and durable, withstanding constant wear and tear in workshop environments. c) Versatility: Compatible with a wide variety of thread sizes on motorcycle transmission input and output shafts, this tool adapts to different models and brands, making it a unique solution for diverse needs. d) Ease of Use: Its ergonomic design facilitates handling, minimizing the effort required and allowing both professionals and amateurs to use the tool with ease. e) Time Reduction: By simplifying the process of threading and unthreading gears, the tool saves time during maintenance and repairs, increasing work productivity. f) Safety: The precision in handling gears helps avoid errors that can cause mechanical failures or accidents, providing safer operation. g) Cost-effectiveness: With its durability... Given the efficiency offered, the tool represents an excellent investment, reducing the need for frequent tool replacements and speeding up maintenance work.
