Description

Technical Field [001] This description refers to wireless communication or telecommunication technology, in particular, radio access technology, for example, for mobile communication. Fundamentals of the Invention [002] Currently, 5th Generation radio telecommunications technology is being developed with the aim of serving a wide variety of use cases. In this way, the related systems need to be very flexible, and new types of signaling and information may be required to be transmitted. [003] One field that is of particular importance for many applications is related to signaling reliability. Summary of the Invention [004] It is the aim of this description to present approaches that enable improved signaling reliability by applying acknowledgment signaling procedures to control signaling. The approaches are particularly advantageously implemented in a 5th Generation (5G) telecommunications network or 5G radio access technology or network (RAT/RAN), in particular, in accordance with 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project, a standardization organization). A suitable RAN may be, in particular, a RAN in accordance with NR, for example, edition 15 or later, or LTE Evolution. It should be noted that, hereinafter, the terms data (sub)structure and data block (sub)structure may be considered to be used synonymously. [005] In this way, a method of operation of a target radio node in a radio access network is described. The method comprises receiving the control information transmitted on a control channel and transmitting acknowledgment feedback regarding the control information. [006] A target radio node for a radio access network is also described. The target radio node is adapted to receive control information transmitted on a control channel. Furthermore, the target radio node is adapted to transmit acknowledgment feedback regarding the control information. The target radio node may comprise, and/or be adapted to utilize, the processing circuit system and/or the radio circuit system, in particular, a transmitter and/or a receiver and/or a transceiver, for receiving, for example, control information, and/or transmitting, for example, acknowledgment feedback. [007] A radio node that is, or may be, targeted with a transmission, for example, of control information and/or data signaling, may be considered a target radio node. A target radio node may be, in particular, a user or terminal device. However, in some scenarios, for example, for data concentration transfer or retransmission signaling, the target radio node may be a network node. [008] Furthermore, a method of operating a transmitting radio node in a radio access network is described. The method comprises retransmitting, to a target radio node, the control information based on acknowledgment feedback regarding the control information. Alternatively, or additionally, the method may comprise transmitting, to a target radio node, a control message comprising the control information and error-coding information that encodes the error in the control information. [009] A transmitting radio node for a radio access network may be considered. The transmitting radio node is adapted to retransmit, to a target radio node, control information based on acknowledgment feedback regarding the control information. Alternatively, or additionally, the transmitting radio node may be adapted to transmit, to a target radio node, a control message comprising control information and error-coding information that encodes the error of the control information. The transmitting radio node may comprise, and/or be adapted to utilize, the processing circuit system and/or the radio circuit system, in particular, a transmitter and/or a receiver and/or a transceiver, for receiving, for example, acknowledgment feedback, and/or transmitting and/or retransmitting, for example, control information and/or the control message, and/or for error-coding of the control information. [0010] With the approaches described here, the control information is subject to a signaling acknowledgment procedure that relates directly to the control information, which allows for better reliability of the control information, in particular, control information that does not schedule data transmission, for example, for reception or transmission. [0011] In general, recognition feedback associated with control information can also be referred to as control recognition feedback or control feedback. [0012] A transmitting radio node can be a radio node adapted to transmit signaling, for example, representing or comprising control information and/or data, to a target radio node. The transmitting radio node can, in particular, be a network node. However, in some scenarios, for example, for side-link signaling, the transmitting radio node can be a user device or terminal. [0013] Retransmission may be based on received acknowledgment feedback, and/or may involve receiving acknowledgment feedback, for example, on specified and/o
