Description
[001] The present invention relates to a tubular element for use with an aerosol generating article, wherein the tubular element comprises a porous medium loaded with gel. Preferably, the tubular element comprises an envelope. [002] Articles comprising nicotine for use with aerosol-generating devices are known. Frequently, the articles comprise a liquid, such as an e-liquid, which is heated by a coiled electrically resistive filament to release an aerosol. The manufacture, transport, and storage of such liquid-comprising aerosol-generating articles can be problematic and may lead to leakage of the liquid and its contents. [003] It would be desirable to provide a tubular element for use in an aerosol generating article and device where the tubular element exhibits little or no leakage. [004] It would also be desirable to provide a tubular element, which includes a flow control system that efficiently distributes the aerosol generated from the tubular element when heated by the aerosol generation device. [005] According to the present invention, a tubular element is provided, the tubular element comprising a first longitudinal passage and the tubular element further comprising a porous medium loaded with gel; the gel comprises an active agent. In specific embodiments, the tubular element further comprises an envelope. [006] In specific embodiments, the tubular element comprises an envelope, wherein the envelope comprises paper. [007] The present invention provides a tubular element, the tubular element comprising an envelope that forms a first longitudinal passage and further comprising a porous medium loaded with gel; the gel comprising an active agent; the tubular element further comprises a susceptor positioned longitudinally within the tubular element. [008] According to the present invention, a tubular element is also provided, the tubular element comprising an envelope that forms a first longitudinal passage and further comprising a porous medium loaded with gel; the gel comprises an active agent. [009] In some forms, the envelope that forms the first longitudinal pass comprises paper. [0010] In specific embodiments, the porous medium loaded with gel completely fills the tubular element within the envelope. Alternatively, in other specific embodiments, the porous medium only partially fills the tubular element. [0011] In specific embodiments, the tubular element further comprises a second tubular element, the second tubular element having a longitudinal side and proximal and distal ends, the second tubular element positioned longitudinally within the first longitudinal passage formed by the envelope. [0012] In specific embodiments, the longitudinal side of the second tubular element comprises paper or cardboard or cellulose acetate. [0013] In specific embodiments, the second tubular element comprises a porous medium filled with gel. However, in alternative specific embodiments, the second tubular element comprises gel. [0014] In some specific embodiments, where there is a first and second tubular element as described and an envelope, the porous medium loaded with gel is positioned between the second tubular element and the envelope that forms the first longitudinal channel. [0015] In some alternative embodiments, where there is a first and second tubular element, the gel is positioned between the second tubular element and the sheath that forms at least one longitudinal channel. [0016] In combination with other features in specific embodiments, the tubular element comprises a longitudinal element positioned longitudinally within the first longitudinal channel. [0017] In combination with other features in specific embodiments, the envelope is rigid. Alternatively, or additionally, in specific embodiments, the longitudinal side of the second tubular element is rigid. [0018] In combination with other features in specific applications, the casing is water resistant.
