The packaging comprises a container (2) and a lid (3) hingedly connected to the container (2) around a hinge line (5), and an internal structure received in the container (2). The internal structure has a portion extending from the container (2) that is received in the lid (3) when the lid (3) is closed. The packaging further comprises a raised sealing line (38) that is formed on said portion of the internal structure (24) and/or on an internal surface of the lid (3). The raised sealing line (38) is configured to minimize a gap between said portion of the internal structure (24) and the internal surface of the lid (3) when the lid (3) is closed. The present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing the packaging.

Description

Technical Field [0001] The present invention relates to packaging for one or more dispensing systems. In particular, the invention relates to packaging with a hinged lid for dispensing systems, such as smoking articles, but is not limited to these. Background [0002] Hinged-lid packaging is known to those skilled in the art and is widely used in the tobacco industry to secure dispensing systems, such as smoking articles like cigarettes, in a crush-resistant manner. Hinged-lid packaging is typically produced from cardboard molds. [0003] However, conventional hinged-lid packaging tends not to close properly, so the contents of the package can become soiled by contaminants such as moisture and/or dirt. One option to keep hinged-lid packaging closed has been to use locking mechanisms in an attempt to keep the packaging fully closed. However, the locking mechanisms themselves can be damaged so that they cannot perform their function and also make the packaging complex to manufacture. Summary [0004] According to embodiments of the present invention, packaging for distribution systems is provided comprising a container and a lid hingedly connected to the container around a hinge line, an internal structure received in the container and having a portion extending from the container that is received in the lid when the lid is closed, wherein a raised sealing line is formed on said portion of the internal structure and/or on an inner surface of the lid, said raised sealing line being configured to minimize a gap between said portion of the internal structure and the inner surface of the lid when the lid is closed. [0005] The raised sealing line may come into contact with the internal structure and the lid when the lid is in the closed position. [0006] The container may comprise a spaced upper edge from an upper edge of the inner structure, and the raised sealing line may contact the inner structure between the upper edge of the container and the upper edge of the inner structure when the lid is in the closed position. [0007] In some embodiments, the raised sealing line may be located in the internal structure of the container and may comprise a sealing face that is configured to abut the lid when the lid is in its closed position. [0008] Preferably, the raised sealing line is located on an external surface of the internal structure and is configured to abut an internal surface of the lid when the lid is in its closed position. [0009] The internal structure may comprise a front wall forming an external front wall surface and side walls forming external side wall surfaces, wherein the raised seal line extends fully through the external surfaces of the front and side walls. [0010] In some embodiments, the raised sealing line may be located on the lid and may comprise a sealing face that is configured to abut the internal structure of the container when the lid is in its closed position. [0011] Preferably, the raised sealing line is located on an inner surface of the lid and is configured to abut an outer surface of the container's inner structure when the lid is in its closed position. [0012] The cover may comprise a front wall with an inner panel forming the inner surface of the front wall and side walls with inner panels forming the inner surfaces of the side wall and wherein the raised sealing line extends fully through the inner surfaces of the inner panels. [0013] In some embodiments, the raised sealing line may extend continuously around said portion of the internal structure and/or the internal surface of the cover. [0014] In other embodiments, the raised sealing line may be formed partly in said portion of the internal structure and partly on the internal surface of the cover, so that when the cover is in its closed position, the raised sealing line extends continuously around an opening of the internal structure into a receiving space of the distribution system. [0015] In some embodiments, the packaging may comprise a plurality of raised sealing lines. The plurality of raised sealing lines may be formed in said portion of the internal structure. Alternatively, the plurality of raised sealing lines may be formed on the inner surface of the lid. [0016] In one embodiment, at least one of the plurality of raised sealing lines may be formed in said portion of the internal structure and at least one of the plurality of raised sealing lines may be formed on the inner surface of the cover. [0017] In some embodiments, at least one of the plurality of raised sealing lines may be formed partly in said portion of the internal structure and partly on the internal surface of the cover. [0018] A sealing face of the raised seal line may be raised from the surface on which the raised seal line is formed by a distance between 0.1 mm and 2 mm. [0019] The raised sealing line can be formed by structured paint. The raised sealing line can be formed by varnish. [0020] According to another aspect of the invention, a method of manufactu
