Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a cleaning unit and a can manufacturer including the cleaning unit. prior technique [0002] Conventionally, there is a can body maker set up to mold a can body, such as a beverage can. Generally, a can body maker includes a cylindrical reciprocating ram along its central axis direction and performs the extraction process by pressing the front end of the ram against the inner bottom surface of a metal cup body to mold a cylindrical can from the cup body (see, for example, JP 2020 523200). [0003] In many cases, this type of can body manufacturer includes a cleaning unit configured to press the outer peripheral surface of the reciprocating ram. While the ram is in reciprocating motion, a cleaning element of the cleaning unit cleans a fat-soluble lubricant used in a drive mechanism to drive the reciprocating motion of the ram, from the outer peripheral surface of the ram. By this means, the can body manufacturer avoids mixing the fat-soluble lubricant and a water-soluble lubricant (coolant) supplied to the plunger to mold a can. [0004] As the structure of the cleaning element, it is generally known, for example, a wiper ring described in WO 2018/037135 and a sealing ring described in JP 2512274 B2. The wiper ring described in WO 2018/037135 includes a support provided in a disc chamber by means of a peripheral spring and a blade secured by the support. This wiper ring is configured to clean the oil on the surface of a piston rod with the tip of the wiper blade. [0005] JP 2512274 B2 describes that the sealing ring used as a packing to seal the gap between a reciprocating rod and a housing to enclose the rod includes a sealing edge in contact with the rod. [0006] Each blade end of the wiper ring described in WO 2018/037135 and the sealing edge end of the sealing ring described in JP 2512274 B2 is an edge with a blade-like cross-section. [0007] JP H07 185683 A discloses a cleaning unit according to the preamble of claim 1. Sealing rings are installed at the upper and lower ends of the cylinder rod of a deep drawing press, so as to be firmly against the cylinder rod. These rings are mounted on the inner circumference of a sealing device body, which is fixed to the press. Between the upper and lower sealing rings, an oil collection chamber is formed within the sealing device body. This chamber is connected to an oil discharge channel to remove the collected oil. Summary of the Invention Problem to be solved by the invention [0008] Like the ram from the can body manufacturer, a reciprocating ram at a relatively high speed and a long stroke is elongated. Consequently, when reciprocating, the ram is undesirably rotated not only in the direction of the central axis but also in the circumferential direction of the ram due to various disturbance factors. Therefore, if the cleaning unit mounted on the reciprocating ram as described above includes the cleaning element with a structure such as the wiper ring described in WO 2018/037135 or the sealing ring described in JP 2512274 B2, the blade-shaped edge of the cleaning element is pressed unevenly against the outer peripheral surface of the ram and consequently wears unevenly. This causes a problem by making it difficult for this cleaning unit to fully maintain its function for a long time. [0009] The present invention was carried out considering the circumstances described above in order to solve the problems described above. It is, therefore, an aspect of the object of the invention to provide a cleaning unit capable of fully maintaining its function for a long time and a can manufacturer including the cleaning unit. Ways to solve the problem [00010] The invention relates to a cleaning unit for a reciprocating cylinder comprising the features of claim 1. The invention also relates to a can body maker comprising the features of claim 4. The advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized by the features of the dependent claims. Effect of the invention [00011] According to the invention, it is possible to provide a cleaning unit capable of fully maintaining its function for a long time and a can manufacturer including the cleaning unit.
