Description
Position-adjustable mount for directional loudspeakers Technical Field The present invention relates to a stand for speakers and smart devices, and more particularly to a position adjustable stand for directional speakers and smart devices. Background Smart home assistant devices, such asAnd associated speakers such asHas become a very popular feature in modern homes and businesses. In general, these types of devices are very compact and the small speakers in the device are directional in order to increase audibility. In addition, it is often desirable to mount the device to a wall or other surface. Existing mounts are often not adjustable, often orienting directional speakers in a sub-optimal direction. What is needed is a stand that allows the mounted device to be oriented in an optimal direction for audibility. Disclosure of Invention The present invention addresses the need in the marketplace for a stand that enables smart home devices or directional speakers to be positioned to optimize audibility. In an embodiment, a stand for a smart device or directional speaker includes a device interface having a rear wall defining an opening having a periphery with a plurality of notches defined therein, a plurality of engagement ramps, each of the engagement ramps disposed adjacent a separate one of the notches, and a plurality of resilient device receiving prongs projecting forward at an outer periphery of the rear wall, the device receiving prongs adapted to receive the smart device or directional speaker therebetween. The bracket further includes a structural interface including a body defining a periphery, the body having an aperture for receiving a fastener to attach the body to a wall of the structure, a plurality of engagement features projecting radially from the periphery of the body, the engagement features corresponding to and receivable in notches of the device interface, the structural interface being selectively rotatable relative to the device interface to engage the engagement features with the engagement ramps to attach the device interface to the structural interface. In an embodiment, the engagement feature is oval in shape and oriented tangentially relative to the circle. The device interface may have at least three resilient device receiving prongs. The device interface may have six notches defined in a periphery of the opening in the rear wall, and the structural interface may have six engagement features corresponding to the six notches. At least one of the resilient device-receiving prongs may define an opening for receiving a wire therethrough. In an embodiment, the bracket may further comprise an electrical outlet suspension portion to which the structural interface is operatively coupled. In other embodiments, a stand for a smart device or directional speaker includes a device interface having a rear wall and a plurality of resilient device-receiving prongs projecting forward at an outer periphery of the rear wall, the device-receiving prongs adapted to receive the smart device or directional speaker therebetween. The bracket further includes a back plate disposed on a rear side of the structural interface, a retaining plate disposed on a front side of the device interface, a biasing spring disposed to bias the device interface toward the structural interface through the back plate and the retaining plate, the device interface being selectively displaceable along a longitudinal axis defined by the coupling pin against the bias of the biasing spring between an engaged position in which the device interface abuts the structural interface, and a disengaged position in which the device interface is spaced apart from the structural interface, the device interface being rotatable about the longitudinal axis relative to the structural interface when the device interface is in the disengaged position. In various embodiments, the device interface may have at least three resilient device receiving prongs. At least one of the resilient device-receiving prongs may define an opening for receiving a wire therethrough. The cradle may further include an electrical outlet suspension portion to which the structural interface is operatively coupled.
