Abstract

Systems and methods for wireless communication are disclosed herein. In some arrangements, the wireless communication device determines whether resources in the first set of resources that are excluded from the second set of resources are associated with a valid priority, and in response to determining that resources that are excluded from the second set of resources are associated with a valid priority, the wireless communication device reports a re-assessment of the resources to one or more higher layers.

Description

System and method for managing resources for SL communication Technical Field The present disclosure relates to the field of telecommunications, and in particular to reevaluation and preemption (preemption) in Side Link (SL) communications. Background SL communication corresponds to radio communication directly between two or more user equipment devices (UEs). In SL communication, two or more UEs geographically close to each other may communicate directly with each other without communicating through a core network or a Base Station (BS) such as, but not limited to, an evolved node B (eNB), a next generation node B (gNB), etc. Disclosure of Invention In some embodiments, a wireless communication method includes determining, by a wireless communication device, whether resources of a first set of resources that are excluded from a second set of resources are associated with a valid priority, and reporting, to one or more higher layers, a re-evaluation of the resources in response to determining that resources that are excluded from the second set of resources are associated with a valid priority. In some examples, determining whether a resource excluded from the second set of resources is associated with a valid priority includes determining whether the resource is excluded from the second set of resources by hypothesized Side Link (SL) control information (SCI). In some examples, determining that resources excluded from the second set of resources are not associated with a valid priority includes determining that the resources are excluded by the hypothesized SCI. In some embodiments, a wireless communication method includes determining, by a wireless communication device, that resources of a third set of resources are excluded from a second set of resources based on Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) measurements and determining that a priority threshold prio pre is configured, and reporting preemption of resources to one or more higher layers in response to determining that the resources are excluded based on the RSRP measurements and determining that the priority threshold prio pre is configured. In some examples, in response to determining that priority threshold prio pre is configured, preemption of resources is reported in response to determining that (1) resources are not members of the second set of resources due to RSRP measurements, (2) associated priority prio RX is less than priority threshold prio pre, and (3) transmit priority prio TX is greater than receive priority prio RX. In some examples, the method further includes reporting, by the wireless communication device, preemption of the resource in response to determining that the priority threshold prio pre is not configured and that the resource is not a member of the second set of resources due to RSRP measurements performed for SCIs with valid priorities. In some embodiments, a wireless communication method includes determining, by a wireless communication device, that a hypothesized SCI has a periodicity value that is a value from a set of values, and determining, by the wireless communication device, whether resources of a first set of resources are to be excluded from a second set of resources using a hypothesized SL SCI. In some examples, the wireless communication device does not monitor the time slot. The hypothesized SCI is hypothetically received in the slot. The resource reservation field in the hypothesized SCI is set to a periodicity value. In some examples, the set of values is one of a configured set received from a higher layer or a subset of a configured set from a higher layer, the subset comprising values greater than or equal to a lower boundary of the set of values. In some examples, the lower boundary is a value configured or preconfigured by a higher layer, network, or base station, or the lower boundary is one of a plurality of values configured or preconfigured by a higher layer, network, or base station. Each value of the plurality of values maps to a priority. One of the plurality of values corresponds to a SL priority of one of a priority of a packet or a priority of the first set of resources to be transmitted by the wireless communication device. In some embodiments, a wireless communication method includes receiving, by a wireless communication device, a trigger from a higher layer indicating that the higher layer requests the wireless communication device to provide a second set of resources, receiving, by the wireless communication device, a flag from the higher layer indicating whether a hypothesized SCI is used to exclude resources from the second set of resources, and determining, by the wireless communication device, the second set of resources using the SCI received by the wireless communication device instead of using the hypothesized SCI in response to the flag being set. In some examples, the wireless communication device does not monitor the time slot. The hypothesized SCI is hypothetically receiv
