Description

Clipping machine Technical Field The present invention relates to a trimmer for cutting branches. Background A trimmer is a gardening tool comprising a pair of blades (cutters) configured for cutting small branches and/or branches of trees and/or shrubs. In contrast to pruning shears and pruning shears, manual trimmers have one or more long handles. Thus, the trimmer has a longer reach and can provide a greater cutting force than a pair of pruning shears or blades. Electric trimmers are known in the art. In such a trimmer, the motor drives the pair of scissor blades. For example, a lead screw may be used to move one of the scissor blades relative to the other scissor blade. The lead screw converts the rotation of the motor into linear motion. The gearbox may reduce the rotational speed of the motor and increase the torque applied to the lead screw. The trimmer known from KR 101306959 B1 discloses a pivotable joint at its cutting head allowing the cutting portion to be arranged at different angles relative to its stem. For example, JP 2001-340023, WO 2018/205126, DE 9401672 U1, CN 111 567 2517A and CN 108 184 470A disclose trimmers having a motor and a lead screw disposed in or at the handle of the associated trimmer. The linear motion is transmitted through the tube from the handle end to a pair of scissor blades at opposite ends of the trimmer. Some of these trimmers even have removable shaft segments that can be inserted into the trimmer shaft to extend the shaft. EP 3000313 and US 5826341 disclose trimmers having an electric motor and a mechanism for actuating a scissor blade, which mechanism is arranged at the shearing end of the tube opposite the handle end. Disclosure of Invention In trimmers having a motor and a lead screw disposed at the handle portion of the trimmer, the tube extending to the scissor blade must be sized to withstand the high linear forces transmitted through the tube to prevent, for example, bending. Furthermore, if the tube is telescopic, special measures are required to fix the telescopic members relative to each other in the extended position to withstand high linear forces. In such trimmers a strong and correspondingly heavy tube is required, making its handling cumbersome, especially if the tube is long. A trimmer having an entire blade drive mechanism (including a motor disposed at the blade in the cutting portion of the trimmer) is heavy at the blade, which makes it difficult to accurately control the trimmer. Furthermore, the trimmer will have a bulky cut portion, which makes it difficult to reach certain small branches or branches, for example, located in dense leaves. It would be advantageous to achieve an electric trimmer that overcomes or at least alleviates at least some of the above-mentioned disadvantages. In particular, it is desirable to provide an electric trimmer that is easy to handle and that can be moved accurately with respect to the branches and/or branches to be cut. To better address one or more of these problems, a trimmer having the features defined in the independent claims is provided. According to an aspect of the present invention there is provided a trimmer for cutting branches comprising a handle portion, a cutting portion comprising a pair of scissor blades, a tube portion interconnecting the handle portion and the cutting portion, and an electric drive for actuating at least one of the pair of scissor blades. The drive means comprises a motor, a gearbox, and a mechanism for converting rotational motion into linear motion, the motor and the gearbox being arranged in or at the handle portion, the mechanism for converting rotational motion into linear motion being provided in or at the cutting portion. The drive device further comprises a rotatable drive shaft extending through the tube portion and connected to the gearbox and to a mechanism for converting rotational motion into linear motion. Since the motor and the gearbox are arranged in or at the handle portion and the mechanism for converting rotational movement into linear movement is arranged in or at the cutting portion, the weight of the drive means is distributed between the handle portion and the cutting portion of the trimmer. Two of these components of the drive device are provided in or at the handle portion and only one component is provided in or at the cutting portion. Thus, the weight of the drive means is distributed towards the handle portion. Furthermore, since the drive means comprises a rotatable drive shaft extending through the tube portion, the tube portion is mainly subjected to torsional loads, which may be supported by a tube portion that is more elongated and lighter than the tube portion that has to support compression and buckling loads. Thus, the cutting portion is light and slim, and the tube portion is light, which promotes easy operation and precise control of the trimmer and its cutting portion. The trimmer may be a household or commercial gardening tool. The tri
