Abstract

A computing system includes a computing device having a housing. The cover body is arranged on the shell and can move between an opening position and a closing position relative to the shell. When the cover is in the open position, a hardware module, such as a fan module, is removably inserted into the housing. When the cover is in the closed position, the hardware module is enclosed within the housing. The slide lock is arranged on the hardware module. The slide lock is movable from an unlocked position to a locked position when the cover is moved from the open position to the closed position and a force is applied to the slide lock. When the cover is removed from the housing, the slide lock automatically unlocks the hardware module to remove the hardware module from the housing.

Description

Computing system Technical Field The present invention relates to computing systems and, more particularly, to an automatic locking mechanism for efficiently installing and securing hardware modules in a computing system. Background Computing systems, such as servers, are commonly used in network-based data centers. The data center has a plurality of application servers and a storage server for storing data and running applications accessed by users of various computer devices. Each server typically contains hardware elements such as processors, storage devices, network interface cards, power supplies, cooling fans, and other specialized hardware elements. These computing systems typically have a structure to mount and secure hardware module (including fan module) accessories. However, the compact design (compact designs) of computing systems often results in space constraints within the structure. Thus, the use of conventional fasteners (fasteners) in structural and hardware modules, such as thumb screws and hinge plungers, makes system components, especially hardware module installations, difficult and inefficient. The installation process may even result in damage to hardware and finger cuts and/or lacerations of the assembler. Disclosure of Invention Embodiments and similar terms, such as example, configuration, orientation, examples and options, are intended to refer broadly to all subjects of the invention and the claims that follow. Statements containing these terms should be understood not to limit the subject matter of the present invention or to limit the meaning or scope of the following claims. The embodiments covered by the present invention are defined by the following claims rather than by this summary. Summary of the inventionfor each of the high-level summaries of the present invention, some concepts are presented that are further described in the following paragraphs of the embodiments. The summary is not intended to identify key or essential features of the claimed subject matter. Neither is the summary intended to be used alone to determine the scope of the subject matter of the claims. The inventive subject matter should be understood with reference to the drawings, any or all of which are drawings, and each claim, as appropriate throughout the specification. According to some embodiments of the invention, a computing system includes a computing device. The computing device has a housing defining a cavity. The cover body is arranged on the shell and can move between an opening position and a closing position relative to the shell. The hardware module is configured to fit within a cavity of the computing device. The hardware module is insertable into or removable from the cavity when the cover is in the open position. In addition, when the cover is in the closed position, the hardware module is enclosed within the housing. Further, the slide lock is externally mounted to the hardware module. The slide lock moves from the unlocked position to the locked position in response to receiving a locking force applied by the cover when the cover moves from the open position to the closed position. Further, the unlocked position of the slide lock corresponds to the open position of the cover, and the locked position of the slide lock corresponds to the closed position of the cover. According to another embodiment of the invention, a computing system includes a computing device. The computing device has a housing defining a cavity.
