Description

Holding and driving tool Technical Field The present invention relates generally to power tools for tightening threaded fasteners and, more particularly, to such tools that include a (so-called) holding and driving unit. Background Power tools for tightening threaded fasteners are known for use in a variety of industries. For example, such power tools may be electric or pneumatic. The holding and driving power tool is a specific type of power tool that holds a screw while tightening a nut. In the case where it is neither possible nor convenient to hold the screw from the opposite side of the threaded end while tightening, it is necessary to use a holding and driving tool. Such tools typically include some sort of screw holder disposed inside a socket (or the like) to hold the tip of the screw while tightening is performed. The screw retaining member is always fixed but it can move axially to make room for the screw, while the socket follows the nut down. A socket (sometimes referred to as a drive socket or nut socket) is the component that turns and tightens the nut to a final torque and connects to the output gear of the tool. A known problem with holding and driving tools is the reaction force that occurs as the screw is tightened, which must be counteracted by the operator. Furthermore, holding and driving tools are commonly used in the aerospace industry, for example, where one particular application is to use holding and driving techniques with tool attachments known as gear front attachments or claw plates (i.e., output gear extensions connected to the tool tips). When using a gear front attachment, the reaction force is even more inconvenient for the operator to operate. Further, since the power tool attachment member is generally used in a narrow space, the size of the power tool attachment member is an important feature. This also places restrictions on the design and choice of components such as the holding and driving unit included in such accessories. Accordingly, there is a need for an improved holding and driving tool that solves or at least alleviates the above-mentioned problems. Disclosure of Invention It is therefore desirable to provide a holding and driving tool that is more convenient to operate, thereby providing improved usability. In particular, it is desirable to provide such a design in a particularly compact manner. To better address one or more of these problems, a holding and driving tool, a holding and driving unit as defined in the independent claims is provided. Preferred embodiments are defined in the dependent claims. According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a holding and driving tool for tightening a screw and a nut, the tool comprising a motor, a tool output being in driving connection with the motor, a housing at least partly accommodating the motor and the output, and a holding and driving unit arranged to be driven by the output and comprising a nut socket adapted to be driven by the output and configured to rotate the nut relative to the screw, a screw holding member configured to engage with the screw to prevent rotation of the screw, and a base member fixed to the housing, wherein the screw holding member is axially movable but rotationally fixed relative to the base member, wherein the holding and driving unit further comprises at least one intermediate member arranged between the base member and the screw holding member for facilitating sliding contact therebetween, and wherein the intermediate member is an elongated member extending in a direction parallel to a central axis of the screw holding member and has an arcuate cross section. According to a first aspect, the holding and driving tool provides an inventive solution to the above-mentioned problems by a design comprising an intermediate member arranged to facilitate sliding contact between the base member and the screw holding member. More specifically, due to the elongated design of the intermediate member and the arcuate cross section, friction and surface pressure between the screw retaining member and the base member may be reduced, thereby reducing the lifting force that is inevitably generated due to the combined function provided by the base member to prevent rotation of the screw retainer and to allow sliding. Thus, the reaction force that the operator needs to apply is greatly reduced and usability is significantly improved. In some embodiments, the at least one intermediate member may be described as further arranged for preventing relative rotational movement between the base member and the screw retaining member. In some embodiments, at least one intermediate member may be described as being disposed between the base member and the screw retaining member for effecting sliding contact therebetween. In some embodiments, at least one intermediate member may be arranged to engage with an upper portion of the screw retaining member. The upper part may be a part with two p
