Abstract

A system for controlling a compaction operation may receive sensor data indicative of a compaction level from one or more sensors associated with a machine that performs a compaction operation on an earthen material. During a compaction operation, the system may determine a compaction level of the earthen material based on the received sensor data. Further, the system may receive a first user input indicating an acceptable compaction range via an input device on the machine. The system may display the determined compaction level and acceptable compaction range via an instrument on a display screen. Further, in response to the determined compaction level being outside of the acceptable compaction range, the system may receive a second user input associated with at least one operating parameter of the machine. The system may adjust at least one operating parameter based on the received second user input.

Description

Work vehicle display with compaction monitoring Technical Field The present disclosure relates generally to work vehicle displays and, more particularly, to a work vehicle display with compaction monitoring. Background Compaction of asphalt, soil, sand, rock and other earth materials is an important step in the construction of foundations, road surfaces, foundations, dams, runways, landfill liners, and the like. Compaction may increase the load carrying capacity of the earth material, its strength and its failure resistance. Different compaction levels may be desired depending on the type of compacted material used and the construction requirements. As the machine compacts the material, the compaction level will approach the desired compaction level. The display interface may assist the operator of the machine in monitoring the compaction level and making decisions regarding the next step in the compaction process. U.S. patent application publication No. US 2023/0287638 A1 ("the' 638 publication") published on month 14 of 2023 discloses a module configured to receive a compaction value and display and/or indicate the compaction value to a machine operator and/or a site manager. The module may activate an indicator (e.g., a green light) in the cab of the compactor to indicate that the current location has been sufficiently compacted. In addition to the displayed compaction values, it may be helpful to provide additional information to the machine operator during the compaction operation. The compaction monitoring and display of the present invention solves one or more problems of the prior art. Disclosure of Invention In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a system for controlling a compaction operation. The system may receive sensor data indicative of a compaction level from one or more sensors associated with a machine performing a compaction operation on an earthen material. In another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a method for controlling a compaction operation. The method may include receiving sensor data indicative of a compaction level from one or more sensors associated with a machine that performs a compaction operation on an earthen material. The method may include determining a compaction level of the earthen material based on the received sensor data during the compaction operation. Further, the method may include receiving, via an input device on the machine, a first user input indicating an acceptable compaction range.
