The gob-side entry retaining mining system of claim 1 wherein said hold down includes a third telescoping member and a pressure plate, one end of said third telescoping member extending into said top beam and the other end of said third telescoping member being connected to said pressure plate, said pressure plate extending through said top beam and being slidably connected to said top beam, said third telescoping member being adapted to drive said pressure plate in a direction along which said anchor rod extends and to clamp said anchor rod between said flat support member and said pressure plate.

The gob-side entry retaining mining system of claim 5, wherein the hold down includes a push plate disposed at an end of the pressure plate remote from the third telescoping member, the push plate being cooperatively coupled to the flexible bag for adjusting the position of the anchor rod under the drive of the third telescoping member.
