- 1. - 9. The negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 1, wherein the binder comprises at least one of a non-aqueous binder, an aqueous binder, a dry binder, and combinations thereof.

The negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 9, wherein the aqueous binder comprises at least one of styrene-butadiene rubber, (meth) acrylated styrene-butadiene rubber, (meth) acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, (meth) acrylic rubber, butyl rubber, fluororubber, polyethylene oxide, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyepichlorohydrin, polyphosphazene, poly (meth) acrylonitrile, ethylene propylene diene copolymer, polyvinylpyridine, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, latex, polyester resin, (meth) acrylic resin, phenolic resin, epoxy resin, polyvinyl alcohol, and combinations thereof.
- 11. The negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery according to claim 1, wherein the negative electrode active material layer has a pellet density in a range of 1.4g/cc to 1.7 g/cc.
- 12. The negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery according to claim 1, wherein an adhesive strength between the negative electrode current collector and the negative electrode active material layer is in a range of 0.2gf/mm to 0.4 gf/mm.

Technical Field The present disclosure relates to a negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including the same. Background The increasing current state of battery-powered electronic devices, such as for example mobile phones, laptop computers, electric vehicles, etc., has driven an increase in the demand for rechargeable lithium batteries that exhibit high energy density and high capacity. Therefore, it may be beneficial to improve the performance of rechargeable lithium batteries. The rechargeable lithium battery includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode, each of which includes an active material that intercalates and deintercalates lithium ions, and an electrolyte, and generates electric energy through a redox reaction that occurs as lithium ions intercalate into the positive electrode and deintercalate from the negative electrode or intercalate into and deintercalate from the positive electrode. Disclosure of Invention The present disclosure describes a negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery that exhibits improved adhesive strength between a negative electrode active material layer and a negative electrode current collector. The present disclosure also describes rechargeable lithium batteries that exhibit improved heat resistance and safety. Example embodiments of the present disclosure include a negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery including a negative electrode current collector, and a negative electrode active material layer on the negative electrode current collector.
