Description

Composition for improving vascular endothelial function Technical Field The present invention relates to a composition for improving vascular endothelial function. Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has become a leading cause of death worldwide, with particularly dramatic effects in low and medium income countries. It was estimated that 1790 ten thousand deaths in 2019 were estimated to be due to CVD, representing 32% of all deaths worldwide. Despite current prophylactic and therapeutic strategies, the mortality rate of CVD in the next decade is expected to increase further. Arteriosclerosis is an inflammatory disease of the cardiovascular system characterized by arterial lumen stenosis due to plaque formation, the progression of which directly leads to the development of CVD. Vascular endothelial dysfunction leads to plaque formation and disease progression, leading to the development of atherosclerosis. Similarly, CVD has been widely reported to be associated with metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a clinical condition associated with at least three of the metabolic risk factors of excess visceral fat (abdominal obesity), insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, hypertension, and dyslipidemia (i.e., high triglyceride and low High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol). These metabolic syndrome components have been found to each impair endothelial function, and patients with metabolic syndrome are known to develop vascular endothelial dysfunction at a high frequency. Under these circumstances, there is a strong need to develop a novel means for improving vascular endothelial function.
