Description
Coffee machine Cross Reference to Related Applications The present application claims priority from australian patent application No.2023903286 filed on 10/13 of 2023. The entire disclosure of australian patent application No.2023903286 is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. Technical Field The present disclosure relates generally to beverage devices. In particular, the present disclosure relates to beverage devices comprising a pump for dispensing a fluid. The invention has been developed primarily for espresso or coffee machines and will be described hereinafter with reference to these applications. However, it will be appreciated that the invention is not limited to this particular field of application, but may be implemented in other beverage devices involving the delivery of water. Background Beverage devices such as espresso machines typically include a pump in fluid communication between a fluid reservoir and one or more fluid outputs, such as a brew head and a steam wand of the espresso machine. Known espresso machines control the pressure and flow rate of water delivered when making a cup of espresso coffee. Accurate control of pressure and flow rate may be difficult to achieve due to the reliance on electromagnetic pumps driven using AC motors. Furthermore, the duty cycle of the electromagnetic pump is typically 2 minutes in the on state and 1 minute in the off state, which means that it cannot perform continuous operation. It is well known that electromagnetic pumps may generate noise during operation. Disclosure of Invention It is an object of the present invention to substantially overcome or at least ameliorate one or more of the disadvantages of existing equipment, or at least to provide a useful alternative to existing equipment.
