Description
Battery module and battery pack Technical Field Cross Reference to Related Applications The present application claims priority from korean patent application No. 10-2023-0134577 filed 10 months 2023 in republic of korea, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field The present disclosure relates to a battery module and a battery pack, and more particularly, to a battery module and a battery pack capable of adjusting an internal pressure by capturing an internal gas. Background The secondary battery is a chargeable and dischargeable battery different from the primary battery that cannot be charged. A low-capacity secondary battery is used for small portable electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptop computers, and video cameras, and a high-capacity secondary battery is widely used as a power source for driving a motor in a hybrid vehicle or the like. Such secondary batteries may be used in various forms. For example, the secondary battery may be used in the form of a battery module that electrically connects a plurality of battery cells capable of charge and discharge, a battery pack that electrically connects a plurality of battery modules, and a unit that accommodates a plurality of battery cells in a pack case in a direct-assembled group. Here, the battery cell includes an electrode assembly in which a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator are stacked, and an exterior material accommodating the electrode assembly. At this time, a metal can or a pouch having a resin layer formed on the surface of a metal substrate layer may be used as an exterior material, and the interior of the exterior material may be filled with an electrolyte solution. That is, the battery cell has a structure in which the electrode assembly is received in the interior of the metal can or pouch in a state of being impregnated with the electrolyte solution. On the other hand, when such a battery cell is repeatedly charged and discharged, gas is generated due to various reasons, such as an increase in the internal temperature of the battery cell to decompose an electrolyte solution, or an additive in the electrolyte solution chemically reacts during migration of positive ions. At this time, the gas generated from the battery cells increases the internal pressure of the battery module or the battery pack accommodating the battery cells, and there has conventionally been a problem in that the case of the battery module or the battery pack expands or the battery cells inside the case are damaged due to the increase in the internal pressure. Disclosure of Invention Technical problem The present disclosure is designed to solve the problems of the related art, and therefore, it is an object of the present disclosure to provide a battery module and a battery pack capable of capturing gas generated from a plurality of battery cells to prevent the internal pressure of a case accommodating the battery cells from rising beyond a certain level and to prevent the volume of the case from expanding. Technical proposal The battery module according to embodiment 1 of the present disclosure includes a plurality of battery cells, a gas capturing unit disposed at a position adjacent to the battery cells, and a module case accommodating the plurality of battery cells and the gas capturing unit, wherein the gas capturing unit is ruptured when an internal pressure of the module case reaches a preset pressure and captures gas to adjust the internal pressure of the module case. The gas capturing unit may have a box shape forming an inner space in a negative pressure state. The plurality of battery cells may be arranged in a row inside the module case, and the gas capturing unit may be installed between the plurality of battery cells. The gas capturing unit may be installed between respective battery cells of the plurality of battery cells. A cutting line for causing breakage may be formed on the surface of the gas capturing unit.
