Description
Method and apparatus relating to GNSS measurements Technical Field Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to wireless communication technology and, more particularly, to methods and apparatus for controlling behavior of a user device after a failure of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurements. Background A User Equipment (UE) may use GNSS to determine its location. The GNSS location information may be used to compensate for frequency offset (caused by doppler shift) and timing offset in radio propagation between the UE and satellites. For example, for geosynchronous orbit satellites (altitude about 36000 km), the UE must compensate for propagation delays. For low earth orbit satellites (altitude about 250 km-1500 km), the UE must also compensate for doppler shift and time shift that occurs due to satellite movement (about 7.5k m/s relative to earth). In internet of things (IoT) supported technologies for non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), it is assumed that a UE cannot operate GNSS and IoT NTN simultaneously. Thus, a GNSS measurement gap is defined in which the UE may perform GNSS measurements without monitoring the PDCCH and performing other operations of cellular communication. There are certain challenges in this situation. Disclosure of Invention This summary is provided to introduce a simplified concepts of the disclosure.
