Abstract

An apparatus, method, and computer program product are provided. In the context of the method, the method records user equipment information during a time duration, wherein the user equipment information describes a plurality of conditional cell configurations. Based on the user equipment information, the method generates a report indicating that at least one of the plurality of conditional cell configurations is unnecessary. The method sends the report to a network node.

Description

Detection of unnecessary conditional reconfiguration in dynamic cell handover Technical Field Example embodiments relate generally to detecting unnecessary conditional cell configurations and, more particularly, to detecting unnecessary conditional cell conditional configurations in selective activation of cell groups or dynamic transitions of low-level triggered mobility. Background The user equipment may be configured with one or more conditional cell configurations. The user equipment may be configured with multiple conditional cell configurations in preparation for cell handover operations, such as conditional handover, conditional secondary cell group primary cell (PSCell) change, or low-level triggered mobility. The user equipment may change to, for example, a new primary cell group or secondary cell group based on one of its conditional cell configurations. With selective activation of cell groups, the user equipment may retain unused conditional cell configurations after conditional handover or conditional PSCell change. For example, after completing random access towards the target PSCell, the user equipment may retain conditional cell configurations related to other primary cells of the secondary cell group. This enables another conditional PSCell change after the previous secondary cell group change without requiring reconfiguration from the network and re-initialization of conditional PSCell preparations. This modulates the reduction of signaling overhead and interruption time for secondary cell group changes. Similarly, the user equipment may retain the conditional handover configuration after performing a handover between primary cell groups. Low-layer trigger mobility involves a decision about cell change based on layer-one measurements in the medium access control layer of the distributed unit. In low-level triggered inter-cell mobility, the user equipment may be configured to perform dynamic switching between primary cells, secondary cell group primary cells, or secondary cells in the case of carrier aggregation. Similar to selective activation of cell groups, dynamic switching in low-level triggered mobility allows conditional cell configurations to be maintained after handover, reducing overhead associated with preparing such conditional configurations. The successful handover report is configured when a conditional handover is performed in order to optimize the timing of the primary cell group change. The successful handover report may be configured by both the source node and the target node, with each node configuring a different portion of the successful handover report. When the user equipment is connected to the source cell, a successful handover report configuration is sent in a radio resource control reconfiguration message and the successful handover report is obtained by the target node and forwarded back to the source node (if required) by the target node using UEInformationRequest or UEInformationResponse procedures. If the user equipment has an available successful handover report to be reported, the user equipment includes the availability of the successful handover report to the network in a radio resource control procedure complete message (i.e., RRCReconfigurationComplete, RRCReestablishmentComplete, RRCSetupComplete, RRCResumeComplete). The user equipment may discard the successful handover Report 48 hours after it is stored (i.e., release user equipment variables VarSuccHO to Report). If a successful handover report configuration is received during a handover and one of the T310 timer (for radio link failure detection), the T312 timer (for early radio link failure detection), and the T304 timer (for handover failure or random access failure detection) exceeds a threshold (configured by the source node for the T310/T312 timer and by the target node for the T304 timer), the user equipment documents the successful handover report. There may be separate (potentially parallel) configurable thresholds for the timer, including percentage values of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 20% in the case of T304. These percentages indicate the ratio of the threshold value (in ms) to the signaled timer value. In the case of dual active protocol stack handover, an additional trigger condition may be configured by the source cell, which means that the user equipment experiences radio link failure in the source cell during dual active protocol stack handover execution. The successful handover report may include source and target cell identifiers of the handover, location information, a latest radio link measurement of all measurement identifiers available when the handover is performed for all handover types, a reason indicating a trigger for generating the successful handover report (i.e. T310 reason, T312 reason, or T304 reason), a latest radio measurement result of a candidate target cell in case of a conditional handover, an elapsed time between the conditional handover execution towards the target
