Description

Use of birch sap for improving memory Technical Field The invention relates to an application of birch sap in improving or enhancing memory. In particular to the use of the betula alba sap extract in the preparation of a medicament for treating, preventing or slowing down the memory disorder or a health food for maintaining the memory of a subject or preventing the memory from deteriorating. Background With global social aging, the incidence of degenerative brain diseases including Parkinson's disease, alzheimer's disease, huntington's chorea, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis has increased. Memory impairment is one of the major symptoms of age-related degenerative brain diseases. Since there is no effective therapy for memory impairment, preventive methods by dietary intervention or nutraceuticals have been receiving increasing attention. Betula alba (Betula platyphylla) is of Betula genus of Betulaceae. In the compendium of materia medica, the bark of white birch is described as being used for the treatment of arthritis, skin diseases, body trauma and heat and toxic materials clearing away. At present, the white birch has been widely used for civil medicine to treat various inflammatory diseases, including hepatitis, acute tonsillitis, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, cholecystitis, urinary tract infection and burns and scalds. Studies have shown that Betula alba has many biological activities, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, anticancer, antifatigue and neuroprotective effects, which are related to the main active ingredient triterpenes in Betula alba bark, betula alba brain (betulin). Another product of Betula alba is Betula alba sap, which is typically collected during winter to spring. The fresh white birch sap is colorless transparent liquid, is slightly sweet, and starts to ferment after being placed for two or three days after being collected and the taste becomes sour. Birch sap is a traditional beverage in many areas of the northern hemisphere. In addition, the related data record that the white birch sap also has medicinal value, can be used for improving liver diseases, urethritis, cold, headache, dandruff and eczema, is beneficial to reducing blood pressure and cholesterol, and is used for treating scurvy, kidney diseases, gout and the like. However, studies on the improvement of memory impairment with white birch sap have not been found in the background art. Thus, there is a need for treatment, prevention or alleviation of memory impairment with betula sap extracts. The inventors used the Morris water maze (Morris water maze, MWM) test to evaluate the effect of oral birch sap on memory in healthy rats for 2 weeks. From the MWM test results, it was surprisingly found that the time to find the plateau and distance for the white birch sap group rats was significantly shorter than the control group, showing that the white birch sap helped to preserve memory, further demonstrating that the use of white birch sap extract for treating, preventing or slowing down memory impairment or for maintaining memory or preventing memory decline is promising. Disclosure of Invention The present disclosure provides a use of a sap extract of betula (Betula platyphylla) tree in the manufacture of a medicament for treating, preventing or slowing down a memory disorder in a subject. In one embodiment, the betula liquid extract of the present disclosure is obtained from a betula tree grown in northern sea of japan. In another embodiment, the white birch sap is harvested in winter or spring. In another embodiment, the white birch sap is harvested in early spring. The present disclosure also provides a process for preparing a betula alba sap extract comprising Step 1, selecting mature white birch, drilling holes and inserting a guide pipe to guide sap to flow out; step 2, collecting the flowing sap by using a collector and storing the sap at a low temperature; step 3, filtering sap at low temperature to remove bark pieces and other impurities, and And 4, removing most of water in the sap by using a low-temperature concentration technology to obtain the high-concentration betula alba sap extract. The steps can be increased or decreased according to the specific components extracted or other practical requirements. The present disclosure also provides an application of the birch sap extract in preparing a health food for maintaining memory or preventing memory deterioration of a subject. The present disclosure also provides a method for treating, preventing or slowing a memory disorder in a subject comprising administering the birch sap extract of the present disclosure to the subject. The present disclosure also provides a method for maintaining memory or preventing memory decline in a subject comprising administering the birch sap extract of the present disclosure to the subject. The present disclosure also provides a pharmaceutical composition for treating, preventing or alleviatin
