Description
Device for protecting row crops from weather hazards Technical Field The present invention relates to the field of agriculture, and more particularly to an apparatus for protecting row crops from severe weather, such as vines, market vegetable garden crops, or fruit crops such as berries or other fruits. Background Plant growth of row crops depends on external weather conditions. However, in recent years, crops often suffer from increasingly frequent and strong severe weather and often lead to a drastic drop in yield or even a loss of some crops. As a result, farmers are increasingly feeling the need for effective protection from bad weather. Some solutions for protecting row crops from hail or frost are known, for example solutions using flame or resistive heaters or using hail-resistant nets. These solutions only provide protection against a single type of severe weather and some have drawbacks related to carbon dioxide emissions, while others are difficult to implement. A solution for providing crop protection from hail is described in document CN 218417667U, which discloses an apparatus for spreading hail-resistant nets on rows of vegetables. The net is supported by means for moving the net longitudinally using a mechanism to allow extension between a position where the net is retracted adjacent the support column of the apparatus and a position where the net extends along the row of crops. The device is easier to use than the solution described above, but is dedicated only to hail prevention applications. Furthermore, since this solution only allows the net to spread in one direction, the device is limited to a width equal to the width of the row crops, otherwise it would be incompatible with farm mechanization (the machinery needs to be able to pass between crop rows). Thus, the protection that the device provides to crops is greatly limited to the cultivated area. However, in order to cope with different types of severe weather, it is often necessary to protect the row crops more widely. Furthermore, document FR 3056077A discloses another solution, namely a device for spreading out a protective tarpaulin along a row of vine plants in order to limit all the vine plants of the row down to the roots of the rhizome of their vine plants in the spread position. The solutions described in the above documents have a very complex construction, employing traction cables and rails extending over the length of the row, or rotating longitudinal bars extending over the length of the row, which means that the components of the device are permanently installed in the row of vine. Such installations are extremely invasive to row crops and make it difficult to mechanize cultivation of the crops, while also being difficult to implement. It is an object of the present invention to remedy the drawbacks of the above-mentioned documents and to provide an original solution for a device for protecting row-cultivated plants, which allows to protect row-cultivated plants from severe weather of various types, which has a simple construction and can be easily integrated into the ground. Disclosure of Invention This object is achieved by the present invention which provides an apparatus for protecting row crops, for example row crops, from bad weather, comprising a support for at least one means for dragging the protective tarpaulin between a stowed position and a deployed position of the protective tarpaulin, characterized in that said at least one dragging means comprises a deployment and stowing mechanism having a first end engaged to at least one movement actuating means and a free second end, and at least one means attached to said tarpaulin, said mechanism being capable of deploying the protective tarpaulin in two mutually perpendicular directions in a plane perpendicular to the direction of the support and upwards in a direction parallel to the direction of the support, when said at least one actuating means pushes the free second end away from said first end of the mechanism, and of stowing the protective tarpaulin when said at least one actuating means brings said free second end close to said first end. The object of the invention is also achieved by means of an apparatus for protecting a row-cultivated plant from bad weather, comprising a support for dragging a protective tarpaulin between its stowed position and its deployed position, characterized in that the dragging means comprise a deployment and stowing mechanism with a first end engaged to a moving actuating means and a free second end, said mechanism being able to deploy the protective tarpaulin in a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the row-cultivated plant and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the row-cultivated plant when said actuating means push the free second end away from said first end of the mechanism, and stow the protective tarpaulin when said second end is brought close to said first end.
