Claims (15)
- 1. A method for monitoring environmental impact associated with use of output products produced from one or more input materials, the method comprising: collecting data related to production of the output product, wherein the data related to production comprises environmental footprint data associated with the output product, wherein the environmental footprint data is determined based at least in part on the measured carbon content of the output product, Generating transaction data based on the environmental footprint data to store the environmental footprint data as an entry in a distributed ledger of a distributed ledger network, -Providing the generated transaction data to the distributed ledger network for accessing the environmental footprint data via the distributed ledger network.

The method of claim 1, wherein providing the generated transaction data to the distributed ledger network includes providing the generated transaction data to a signature module configured to sign the generated transaction data and provide the signed transaction data to the distributed ledger network.

- 4. The method of any of the preceding claims, wherein the transaction data further comprises relationship data specifying a relationship(s) between production input(s) for producing the output product and the produced output product.

- 8. The method of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the measured carbon content of the output product is determined from measurement data obtained from a measurement device.

The method of any of the preceding claims, wherein the environmental footprint data associated with the output product is further determined from production data associated with production of the output product and environmental footprint data associated with input material(s) used to produce the output product.
- 10. The method of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the data relating to the production of the output product is collected in association with the production of the output product by the producer of the output product.

An apparatus for monitoring environmental effects associated with producing an output product produced from one or more input materials, the apparatus comprising: A data collector configured to collect data related to production of the output product, wherein the data related to production comprises environmental footprint data associated with the output product, wherein the environmental footprint data is determined based at least in part on a measured carbon content of the output product, A transaction data generator configured to generate transaction data based on the environmental footprint data to store the environmental footprint data as an entry in a distributed ledger of a distributed ledger network, A distributed ledger network interface configured to provide the generated transaction data to the distributed ledger network to access the environmental footprint data via the distributed ledger network.
