Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The network entity may indicate whether a User Equipment (UE) is to update an estimate of the non-linearity characteristics of a power amplifier of the network entity. The network entity may send control signaling and data signaling to the UE in a time slot. The control signaling may indicate whether the UE is to update the estimate of the non-linear characteristic. If the control signaling indicates to update the estimate, the UE may perform correction on pilot signals of the data channel to obtain an updated estimate, and the UE may decode the data signaling based on the updated estimate. If the control signaling does not indicate to update the estimate, the UE may decode the data signaling based on a previous estimate of the non-linear characteristic.

Description

Triggering estimation of non-linear characteristics of a power amplifier Cross reference This patent application claims priority from U.S. patent application Ser. No. 18/495,335, entitled "TRIGGERING ESTIMATION OF NON-LINEAR CHARACTERI (triggering an estimation of the non-linear characteristics of a power amplifier)" filed by MOSES et al at 10/26 of 2023, which is assigned to the assignee of the present application and expressly incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. Technical Field The following relates to wireless communications, including triggering an estimation of a non-linear characteristic of a power amplifier. Background Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, and so on. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing the available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems, such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems, LTE-advanced (LTE-a) systems, or LTE-a Pro systems, and fifth generation (5G) systems, which may be referred to as New Radio (NR) systems. These systems may employ techniques such as Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or discrete fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple-access communication system may include one or more base stations, each supporting wireless communication for communication devices, which may be referred to as User Equipment (UEs). To reduce power consumption, the network entity may reduce the supply voltage to the power amplifier. Reducing the supply voltage to the power amplifier may result in an increase in nonlinearity in the transmission from the network entity, which may lead to errors or impairments in the transmission. The UE may perform correction techniques on the received downlink signal from the network entity to mitigate nonlinear impairments. However, some correction techniques may have high complexity costs and increased latency. Disclosure of Invention The described technology relates to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatus that support triggering an estimation of a nonlinear characteristic of a power amplifier. For example, the described techniques cause a network entity to trigger a User Equipment (UE) to estimate a non-linear characteristic of a power amplifier at the network entity. The network entity may send control signaling via a control channel in a time slot carrying data for the UE, and the control signaling may include an indication that triggers the UE to update an estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier at the network entity. If the control signaling does not indicate to update the estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier, the UE may correct the data transmitted during the time slot using the previous estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier and remove the non-linear impairment of the data. For example, the UE may receive control signaling in the first time slot indicating that the nonlinearity of the power amplifier is updated, and the UE may use the updated nonlinearity to decode the data signaling in the first time slot. The second time slot may indicate that the estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier is not updated, and the UE may decode data signaling in the second time slot using the non-linear characteristic estimated during the first time slot. A method for wireless communication by a UE is described. The method may include transmitting a message indicating a capability of the UE associated with estimating a non-linear characteristic of a power amplifier of a network entity, receiving control signaling during a time slot indicating whether to update the estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier of the network entity, and decoding data signaling during the time slot based on whether the control signaling indicates to update the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier of the network entity, wherein the decoding uses an updated estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier when the control signaling indicates to update the estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier, and the decoding uses a previous estimate of the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier when the control signaling indicates to not update the non-linear characteristic of the power amplifier. A UE for wireless communication is described. The UE may include one or more memories storing processor executable code; and a processor(s) for the one or more processors, the one or more processors are coupled with the one or more memories. The one or more processors may be op
