Abstract

Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable storage media for reference signal resource counting. In one method, a first apparatus receives a first configuration for a first Channel State Information (CSI) report, the first configuration indicating channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resources. The first apparatus performs measurements for CSI-RS using CSI-RS resources. Based on the measurements, the first apparatus transmits a first CSI report using CSI-RS resources. The CSI-RS resource is counted as an active CSI-RS resource in a duration from a start time of the CSI-RS resource to an end time of transmission of the first CSI report.

Description

Counting of reference signal resources Cross Reference to Related Applications The present application claims priority and its rights to indian provisional application No. 202341065557 filed on 9/29 of 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field Various example embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to the field of telecommunications and, more particularly, relate to an apparatus, method, and computer-readable storage medium for counting of reference signal resources. Background Channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resources for Channel State Information (CSI) reporting may be configured in three different ways, including periodic CSI-RS, semi-persistent CSI-RS, and aperiodic CSI-RS. Specific user equipment capabilities may provide an indication to a network device, such as a gNB, of active non-zero power CSI-RS (NZP-CSI-RS) resources that a UE supports simultaneously for each Component Carrier (CC), and aggregation restrictions on all component carriers when Carrier Aggregation (CA) is applied. The UE may report a low value for each CC and aggregate restrictions across all CCs in the case of CA may further limit the resources that may be configured for the UE for a given CC. In counting active NZP-CSI-RS resources, the same NZP-CSI-RS resource used in multiple CSI reporting configurations may be counted as multiple active CSI-RS resources, which makes the number of different NZP-CSI-RS resources that the UE can support smaller. Therefore, there is a need for a better resource count to improve network performance without increasing the active NZP-CSI-RS resources that the UE needs to support simultaneously.
