Description
The present invention relates to a vehicle hood for covering the engine compartment of a motor vehicle, and to a motor vehicle with such a vehicle hood. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method and a system for manufacturing such a vehicle hood, and to a positioning element for use in the manufacture of such a vehicle hood. A vehicle hood, used to cover the engine compartment of a motor vehicle, is typically constructed from a design-defining outer sheet metal and a stiffening, energy-absorbing inner sheet metal. Legally approved vehicles must now also meet stricter consumer protection requirements regarding pedestrian safety with respect to the hood, particularly the criteria for head injuries (HIC values). Specifically, this includes, among other things, the hood's ability to absorb a head impact at an angle of 50° or 65° and at speeds of 35 km/h or 40 km/h. To absorb impact energy and thus meet higher consumer protection requirements, it is known to design the hood of a vehicle and surrounding components to be deformable. Unfortunately, the stricter consumer protection requirements regarding pedestrian safety severely restrict both the external design freedom of the vehicle hood and the internal design freedom of the arrangement and configuration of the engine compartment components. Therefore, existing hood design concepts are difficult to transfer to other vehicle types. This is disadvantageous from both a development and a manufacturing perspective. It is therefore the object of the present invention to at least partially eliminate the disadvantages described above; in particular, it is the object of the present invention to provide a vehicle hood as well as a method and system for manufacturing such a vehicle hood which ensures compliance with consumer protection requirements regarding pedestrian protection in a simple, cost-effective and reliable manner. The foregoing problem is solved by a vehicle hood having the features of claim 1, a positioning element according to claim 8, a method according to claim 9, a system according to claim 10, and a motor vehicle according to claim 11. Further features and details will become apparent from the dependent claims, the description, and the drawings. Technical features disclosed with respect to the vehicle hood according to the invention also apply in conjunction with the positioning element, the method, the system, and the motor vehicle according to the invention, and vice versa, so that the disclosure of the individual aspects of the invention always makes or can make reciprocal reference. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are set forth in the dependent claims. According to the invention, a vehicle hood is provided for covering the engine compartment of a motor vehicle. The vehicle hood according to the invention comprises a metallic outer sheet for external arrangement, a metallic inner sheet for arrangement between the engine compartment of the motor vehicle and the outer sheet, and at least one deformation element arranged locally between the metallic outer sheet and the metallic inner sheet for the targeted reduction of HIC values, wherein the deformation element is arranged directly between the metallic outer sheet and the metallic inner sheet. Because the vehicle hood according to the invention has at least one deformation element arranged locally between the metallic outer sheet and the metallic inner sheet for the targeted reduction of HIC values, and which is positioned directly between the metallic outer and inner sheets of the vehicle hood, it is possible in a structurally simple and cost-effective manner to provide an aesthetically pleasing vehicle hood for the targeted absorption of impact forces, which ensures compliance with consumer protection requirements regarding pedestrian protection in a simple, cost-effective and reliable manner. Furthermore, the use of deformation elements arranged directly between the metallic outer and inner sheets of the vehicle hood makes it possible to develop concepts that are transferable to different vehicle types. The vehicle hood according to the invention can preferably be designed to cover the engine compartment of a passenger car. However, it is understood that the vehicle hood according to the invention can also be designed to cover the trunk of a passenger car, a truck, or a commercial vehicle. The outer metallic sheet and the inner metallic sheet can advantageously be made of an iron or aluminum alloy. The arrangement of the deformation element allows it to be kept at a distance, particularly from the metallic inner sheet. According to the invention, a local arrangement of a deformation element between the outer and inner metal sheets can preferably be understood as a locally restricted arrangement, which is accordingly arranged only in a specifically selected area between the outer and inner metal sheets. This allows, in particular, a highly targeted adaptation of the impact force absor
