Description

The present invention relates to a component comprising a wood component and a plastic component, wherein the plastic component surrounds an edge region of the wood component, and wherein the wood component has at least one recess in the edge region extending through the entire thickness of the wood component, and through which the plastic component extends. The present invention further relates to a method for manufacturing a component, wherein a plastic component is attached to a wood component by means of an injection molding process such that the plastic component surrounds an edge region of the wood component. A component of the type mentioned above is made from the DE 10 2022 122 808 A1 known. A procedure of the type mentioned above is derived from the DE 10 2019 131 625 A1 known. The present invention is based on the objective of enabling a relatively simple manufacture of a component of the type mentioned above. This problem is solved according to the invention by a component having the features of claim 1 and by a method for manufacturing a component having the features of claim 6. The component according to the invention comprises a wood component and a plastic component, which are firmly joined together. Such components are also referred to as wood-plastic hybrid components. The plastic component clamps around an edge region of the wood component, thus surrounding the edge region of the wood component on a top, an end face, and a bottom face. The top and bottom faces—regardless of the actual spatial arrangement of the component—always refer to the two opposite sides of the wood component adjacent to the end face. Due to the fibrous structure of the wood component, it exhibits a natural microscopic surface structuring, which results in the formation of numerous microscopic interlocks between the plastic component and the wood component in the edge region of the wood component enclosed by the plastic component. The wood component is preferably made of plywood. The plastic component is preferably injection-molded onto the wood component, i.e., attached to the wood component by means of an injection molding process. Preferably, the plastic component consists at least partially of a fiber-reinforced, and particularly preferably of a short-fiber-reinforced, plastic. According to the invention, the wooden component has at least one recess in the edge region encompassed by the plastic component. This recess extends through the entire thickness of the wooden component, i.e., from the top to the bottom, and the plastic component extends through it. The portion of the plastic component located on the top of the wooden component and the portion located on the bottom of the wooden component are thus connected to each other by at least one connecting web extending through the at least one recess. This connecting web of the plastic component allows shrinkage-induced stresses to be generated in the plastic component. These stresses cause the portions of the plastic component located on opposite sides of the wooden component to be drawn together and thus pressed against the edge region of the wooden component. This results in a particularly reliable positive fit between the plastic component and the wooden component. Preferably, the wooden component has a plurality of recesses distributed over the edge area, such that the parts of the plastic component located on opposite sides of the wooden component are connected to each other by a plurality of connecting webs extending through the wooden component. According to the invention, the at least one recess is not designed as a bore, as is known from the prior art, but is machined into an end face of the wooden component. This allows for relatively simple production of the at least one recess, and in particular a plurality of recesses, and thus relatively simple production of a component of the type mentioned above. Preferably, the at least one recess is machined into the end face of the wooden component by milling. In principle, however, the at least one recess can also be machined into the end face in another suitable way, for example by sanding or planing. In a preferred embodiment, the at least one recess is formed by a groove machined into the end face. Preferably, the at least one groove has a groove depth that is greater than half the edge depth of the edge region, where the depth is understood to be the extent perpendicular to the end face of the wood component. This enables It is possible to achieve a relatively reliable, form-fitting connection between the plastic component and the wood component in a relatively simple way. Particularly preferred are several recesses, each formed by a groove. Preferably, the multiple recesses are arranged side by side and distributed across the entire lateral extent of the edge region. This makes it possible to achieve a reliable connection between the plastic component and the wood component in a relatively simple manner ac
