Description

The object of the invention is a folding bicycle with a pivoting mechanism for bicycles with top and down tubes and tire sizes of and larger than 20 inches, suitable for bicycle frame types such as swan-neck, MTB, trapezoidal, wave, mixte, and diamond frames and their hybrid forms. The top and down tubes are separated vertically, with the rear part of the frame being permanently connected to the base part via the cut-off front ends of the top and down tubes, and the rear cut-off ends of the top and down tubes of the front frame part being permanently connected to the pivot part. The base and swivel parts form a functional unit and, together with the locking device consisting of locking bolts and mooring lines with holders, are at the center of the swivel mechanism. The base consists of a vertically installed hollow body or a horizontally curved or flat, vertically elongated piece of dimensionally stable material, permanently connected to the upper and lower tubes at its front cut surfaces. The cross-section of the hollow body can be based on familiar geometric shapes such as squares, rectangles, circles, ellipses, and asymmetrical shapes, as well as hybrid forms. A portion of the locking mechanism is positioned on or behind the base body in the space between the upper and lower tubes. The pivoting part consists of a pivotable component that fits precisely onto the base component and is shaped to match the hollow base component. It is almost completely overlapping in both the curved and flat versions and is connected at the top and bottom to the rear ends of the upper and lower tubes of the front frame section, functionally positioned opposite the corresponding parts on the base component. The functional counterpart to the front part of the locking mechanism (see above) is located on the pivoting part in the space between the upper and lower tubes. This results in two basic construction groups: base and swivel part as hollow bodies with associated half-body, and base and swivel part each in pairs as curved or flat parts. It is also conceivable to reverse the above sequence: The hollow body can become the pivoting part, and a functionally matching piece can become the base part. Furthermore, the curved version can open to the rear as well as to the front, with corresponding implications for the placement of the locking mechanism. The contact surfaces between the base and swivel parts are matched and distinctively profiled, in such a way that the curves and bends are incorporated into the design of the profile as well as the angle at which the right swivel part meets the right front outer surface of the base part. Viewed from the front, a swivel joint is attached to the left outer edge of the base (approximately at 9 o'clock). This joint is connected to the corresponding pivoting element, and the pivoting action takes place around this joint. This action involves the pivoting element detaching from the base and swiveling backward until the wheels are aligned coaxially. The return of the front bicycle section concludes with the secure connection and locking of the base and pivoting elements. Locking at the end of each swiveling motion is achieved by special devices within the hollow body and on the corresponding part of the swiveling body, or on the front or back of the other swiveling bodies mentioned. Several possibilities exist, referred to here as main variant A and main variant B: They differ primarily in that in main variant A, the locking occurs vertically, while in main variant B, it occurs horizontally. Locking variants that can be applied from both above and from the side are also conceivable. Both devices feature a profiled locking element in the form of a bolt (hereinafter referred to as the locking bolt), preferably located in the respective pivoting section, but also conceivably in the base section. The profile consists exclusively or in combination of teeth on at least one of the four sides, hooks, tabs, bores, notches, grooves, recesses, and other flat and distinctive structures, regular or randomly arranged, on the sides, top, and/or bottom, partially or completely encompassing the body. The locking bolt has a predominantly continuous, slightly curved shape, generally curving to the right when viewed from front to back. The cross-section of the locking bolt can be round, square, triangular, polygonal, or a flat rectangular piece. The locking bolt is guided at least at the beginning and end of its travel. This can be achieved by at least one guide wall, by tubes, or by gears, preferably with corresponding mating elements in the design of the locking bolt. The center remains free for access to the cutouts and other striking design elements, which They are functionally suitable for the mooring lines and their holders. Main variant A The main variant A includes at least one profiled locking bolt of defined dimensions, positioned centrally as a single component on the swivel part. Alternatively, if
