Abstract

A table linen piece, provided with a QR code which is incorporated directly into the linen piece at one of its side edges during weaving, characterized in that the QR code is produced with a number of warp threads between 31 and 80 insertions per cm and a number of weft threads between 42 and 80 insertions per cm, the warp threads having a titer between 30/2 Ne and 80/2 Ne and the weft threads having a titer between 30/1 Ne and 80/1 Ne, wherein the warp and weft threads have different colors with a contrast ratio value of at least 1.54 calculated according to the WCAG standard.

  1. A table linen piece, provided with a QR code which is incorporated directly into the linen piece at one of its side edges during weaving, characterized in that the QR code is produced with a number of warp threads between 31 and 80 insertions per cm and a number of weft threads between 42 and 80 insertions per cm, the warp threads having a titer between 30/2 Ne and 80/2 Ne and the weft threads having a titer between 30/1 Ne and 80/1 Ne, wherein the warp and weft threads have different colors with a contrast ratio value of at least 1.54 calculated according to the WCAG standard.
  2. piece of tablecloth according to Claim 1 characterized by the fact that the warp and weft threads are made of cotton.
  3. piece of tablecloth according to Claim 1 characterized in that it is yarn-dyed using indanthrene dyes that are resistant to chlorine and hydrogen peroxide.

Description

Technical field The subject of the present invention is a piece of table linen provided with a QR code. State of the art The QR code (an acronym for "Quick Response") is a two-dimensional code consisting of a matrix of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background. This matrix of black squares forms a cryptogram containing information designed to be read by an optical reader or a mobile device. Originally developed for tracking objects in logistics and industrial production, the QR code has spread to various technical fields as a means of easily transmitting information in different formats. Particularly with regard to applications in the textile sector, it has been proposed to use QR codes instead of the usual labels attached to garments. A known solution, described in Japanese patent application No. JP 2009 161884 A As described, the QR code is incorporated directly into the textile product by weaving together threads of two different colors, so that the contrast between the different colored threads creates an image that corresponds to a QR code. An important requirement that a QR code embedded in a textile product must meet is the ability to maintain its original properties such as shape, size and readability throughout the entire lifespan of the textile product. This is particularly crucial for a QR code intended to be embedded in a textile product designed for long-term use, such as a tablecloth for the catering and hospitality sectors. In these sectors, the value of a tablecloth is largely determined by its ability to retain its original properties essentially unchanged over time. A valuable tablecloth is one that remains virtually intact and retains the same original qualities after each wash and use. Consequently, the QR code embedded in the linen must remain perfectly readable even after 40, 50, and up to 60 washes—that is, throughout the entire lifespan of the linen. Therefore, it is not only important that the characteristics of the table linen, i.e., color, shape and size, remain unchanged so that no significant differences between new and old linens are discernible, but also that the information transmitted via the QR code can be reliably and repeatedly read despite intensive use and frequent washing to which the linen is exposed. The main object of the present invention is therefore to solve the above-mentioned problems by proposing a piece of table linen equipped with a QR code for identification and tracking, which ensures reliable and repeatable readability of the information contained in the QR code even after prolonged use of the linen. Summary of the invention The aforementioned problem is solved by the present invention with a piece of table linen having the features of claim 1. Preferred embodiments of the invention are set forth in the remaining claims. The idea behind the present invention is to integrate a QR code into a piece of tablecloth during the weaving process using the Jacquard method. The QR code is thus created by interlacing the warp and weft threads. It is neither an embroidered code nor a code attached to a label, but rather an integral part of the fabric of the tablecloth itself. Detailed description of the invention As previously mentioned, the QR code on the tablecloth is created during the weaving process using a Jacquard technique. The choice of the Jacquard technique is not arbitrary. It is the solution that allows for the production of fabrics with sophisticated designs and patterns, greater durability and stability, and thus better suited for professional use and frequent commercial washing. To ensure reliable and repeatable readability of the QR code even after prolonged use of the tablecloth, it was deemed sensible to select the number of threads in the warp and weft according to the following criterion: The tablecloth has 31 insertions per... cm, in the weft 42 insertions per cm in the band in which the QR code is provided, as opposed to 21.4 insertions per cm in the base fabric. Furthermore, the yarn count (yarn fineness) was reduced to maintain the same weight per square meter between the base fabric and the band. This means more, but thinner, threads in the band, and fewer, but thicker, threads in the rest of the garment. The warp threads have a titer of 30/2 Ne, the weft threads a titer of 30/2 Ne for the base fabric, while the titer in the band is 30/1 Ne. The titers mentioned above represent the minimum values that can be used to make the QR code readable and were used because they are considered the optimal compromise between functionality and the final cost of the tablecloth. Based on these minimum values, any technically conceivable construction with a larger number of warp and weft threads and a corresponding increase in thread count will, of course, allow the QR code to be read reliably.
