Claims (19)
- An apparatus (900) comprising: means for receiving a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; means for receiving a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and characterized in means for determining, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains (209, 209A) for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology.
- The apparatus (900) according to claim 1, further comprising means for activating at least one deactivated radio chain of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) based on the determination.
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, further comprising means for deactivating at least one radio chain of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) based on the determination.
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, further comprising means for transmitting the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data to one radio chain of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) based on the determination.
- The apparatus (900) according to any of claims 1-3, further comprising: means for transmitting the first set of fronthaul data to a first radio chain (209) of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) based on the determination; and means for transmitting the second set of fronthaul data to a second radio chain (209A) of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) based on the determination.
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, wherein the determination is based on at least one of: one or more uplink random-access channel processing requirements, one or more downlink waveforms requested to be transmitted, a peak-to-average power ratio requirement for transmitting the one or more downlink waveforms, or one or more downlink transmission power requirements for transmitting the one or more downlink waveforms.
- The apparatus (900) according to claim 6, wherein the determination is based at least on whether a single radio chain of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) is capable of transmitting the one or more downlink waveforms without degradation of an error vector magnitude compared to utilizing more than one radio chain of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) for transmitting the one or more downlink waveforms.
- The apparatus (900) according to any of claims 6-7, wherein the determination is based at least on whether a single radio chain of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) is capable of simultaneous transmission of the one or more downlink waveforms such that the peak-to-average power ratio requirement is fulfilled, wherein the one or more downlink waveforms comprise at least one downlink waveform associated with the first radio access technology, and at least one downlink waveform associated with the second radio access technology.
- The apparatus (900) according to any of claims 6-8, wherein the determination is based at least on whether a single radio chain of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) is capable of fulfilling the one or more uplink random-access channel processing requirements for overlapping random-access channel occasions of the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology.
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, further comprising: means for receiving a first configuration for utilizing a first radio chain (209) of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) for at least one of the first radio access technology or the second radio access technology; means for receiving a second configuration for utilizing a second radio chain (209A) of the at least two radio chains (209, 209A) for at least one of the first radio access technology or the second radio access technology; means for configuring the first radio chain (209) based on the first configuration; and means for configuring the second radio chain (209A) based on the second configuration.
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, further comprising: means for receiving an indication for initiating the determination; and means for initiating the determination based on receiving the indication.
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus comprises a radio unit (207) shared between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology.
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, wherein the first set of fronthaul data is received from a first distributed unit (105) associated with the first radio access technology, and wherein the second set of fronthaul data is received from a second distributed unit (105A) associated with the second radio access technology.
- The apparatus (900) according to any of claims 1-12, wherein the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data are received from a single distributed unit (105).
- The apparatus (900) according to any preceding claim, wherein the first radio access technology comprises a fifth generation, 5G, radio access technology, and the second radio access technology comprises a sixth generation, 6G, radio access technology.
- The apparatus (900) according to any of claims 1-14, wherein the first radio access technology comprises a fourth generation, 4G, radio access technology, and the second radio access technology comprises a fifth generation, 5G, radio access technology.
- The apparatus (900) according to any of claims 1-14, wherein the first radio access technology comprises a fourth generation, 4G, radio access technology, and the second radio access technology comprises a sixth generation, 6G, radio access technology.
- A method comprising: receiving (406, 506, 606, 703, 801) a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; receiving (407, 507, 607, 704, 802) a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and characterized in determining (408, 508, 608, 707, 803), based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology.
- A computer program comprising instructions which, when executed by an apparatus (900), cause the apparatus (900) to perform at least the following: receiving a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; receiving a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and characterized in determining, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains (209, 209A) for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology.
Description
FIELD The following example embodiments relate to wireless communication and to spectrum sharing. BACKGROUND As new radio access technologies are emerging, there is a challenge in how to operate the new radio access technologies in parallel with previous radio access technologies. Document WO 2021/163180 A1 (ALTIOSTAR NETWORKS INC [US]) 19 August 2021 (2021-08-19) discloses a communication system for executing dynamic spectrum sharing process, for the controlling of a single RU unit using one more DUs, where DUs can communicate with components of different types of communications networks (e.g., LTE, NR). BRIEF DESCRIPTION The scope of protection sought for various example embodiments is set out by the independent claims. The example embodiments and features, if any, described in this specification that do not fall under the scope of the independent claims are to be interpreted as examples useful for understanding various embodiments. According to an aspect, there is provided an apparatus comprising at least one processor, and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to: receive a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; receive a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and determine, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology. According to another aspect, there is provided an apparatus comprising: means for receiving a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; means for receiving a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and means for determining, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology. According to another aspect, there is provided a method comprising: receiving a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; receiving a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and determining, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology. According to another aspect, there is provided a computer program comprising instructions which, when executed by an apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: receiving a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; receiving a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and determining, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology. According to another aspect, there is provided a computer readable medium comprising program instructions which, when executed by an apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: receiving a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; receiving a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and determining, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technology and the second radio access technology. According to another aspect, there is provided a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising program instructions which, when executed by an apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: receiving a first set of fronthaul data associated with a first radio access technology; receiving a second set of fronthaul data associated with a second radio access technology different from the first radio access technology; and determining, based at least on the first set of fronthaul data and the second set of fronthaul data, whether to utilize one or more radio chains of at least two radio chains for spectrum sharing between at least the first radio access technolog
