EP-4686571-A3 - PRINTHEAD FORCE ADJUST AND LIFT SYSTEM AND METHOD
Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a printhead assembly (200) for use in a printer (100). The printhead assembly (200) includes a printhead (138) positioned to engage a platen roller (140) of the printer (100) and a printhead holder (282) retaining the printhead (138). The printhead assembly (200) also includes a cam shaft (290) designed to rotate into an idle position (566d) and one or more active positions (566a, 566b, 566c) and a force cam (288) connected to the cam shaft (290) and positioned to apply a variable downward force to the printhead (138). The printhead assembly (200) further includes lift cams (294a, 294b) connected to the cam shaft (290) and positioned to engage the printhead holder (282). The force cam (288) causes the printhead (138) to apply a nip force to the platen roller (140) when the cam shaft (290) is in any of the active positions (566a, 566b, 566c). The lift cams (294a, 294b) engage the printhead holder (282) and move the printhead (138) out of engagement with the platen roller (140) when the cam shaft (290) is in the idle position (566d).
