5GS ASSISTED ADAPTIVE AI OR ML OPERATION

Abstract

Method and apparatus for 5GS assisted adaptive AI or ML operation are disclosed. In one embodiment, an SMF comprises a processor; and a transceiver coupled to the processor, wherein the processor is configured to: receive, via the transceiver, Policy and Charging Control (PCC) rules including a request for data rate monitoring, from a policy control function (PCF); transmit, via the transceiver, session management information that includes the request for data rate monitoring to a Next Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) node; and configure a User Plane Function PDU Session Anchor (PSA UPF) to, upon receiving data rate monitoring results from the NG-RAN node, expose the data rate monitoring results to a first node.
