Description
WIDENING PROFILE AND DOOR SASH EQUIPPED THEREWITH The present invention relates to a widening profile . In particular, the invention is intended for the local widening of a leaf profile of a door, for mounting a lock and/or door handle . Traditionally, a lock is mounted into a leaf profile of the door for locking doors . To mount such lock, a cavity is locally milled out in the relevant profile . The lock with its lock case is subsequently mounted in said cavity . Due to the di f ferent mechanical , and sometimes also electronic, components in the lock, the lock case has a certain mounting depth . Consequently, the leaf profile in which the lock is mounted needs a certain minimum width, as otherwise the lock case would protrude from the profile . However, for aesthetics reasons and also to save on material , there is a trend to use increasingly narrower leaf profiles for making both windows and doors . Particularly when the leaf is substantially formed by a panel that is clamped between the leaf profiles , for example a glass panel . Considering that for locking a window leaf usually only a handle mechanism with sliding slats or rods is necessary, the leaf profiles for windows can be executed narrower than the current leaf profiles for doors , where a certain width is required for the lock case . A maj or disadvantage is thus that the leaf profiles for slim windows and doors are not interchangeable . Yet another disadvantage is that the minimum width of the leaf profiles of a door is determined by the mounting depth of the lock case , such that a sl im leaf profile for a door is impossible . The purpose of the present invention is to provide a solution to at least one of the aforementioned and other disadvantages . To this end, the invention relates to a widening profile for a leaf profile of a leaf of a door, whereby the leaf is provided with four leaf profiles , whereby the widening profile is intended to be mounted against a leaf profile on a side of the leaf profile facing the leaf , whereby the widening profile is provided with a recess for mounting a lock case of a lock . The widening profile is thus locally applied to a leaf profile of a door where the lock case needs to be mounted . This has the advantage that the mounting depth of the lock case is no longer restrictive for the width of the leaf profiles of the door . Apart from the aesthetic added value of slim leaf profiles , this also results in enormous material and weight gains . The widening profile according to the invention thus ensures that leaf profiles can be produced and transported more cheaply . Yet another maj or advantage is that the widening profile according to the invention ensures that slim leaf profiles for windows and doors are interchangeable or universal as from now . Obviously, this ensures a strong reduction in production cost , simpli fies the inventory management , etc . Another advantage is that , because the leaf profiles can be narrower, there is more incidence of light when a glass panel or other transparent panel is used as leaf . In a preferred embodiment , the widening profile is provided with mounting means to mount the widening profile against a leaf profile , for example in the form of a screw connection . Preferably, the widening profile comprises two end pieces that close of f the free ends of the widening profile . Preferably, said end pieces are formed such that on one side they are complementary to the cross-section of the widening profile , all this such that they can be partially slid or pushed into the free ends of the widening profile . Preferably, the end pieces are attached to the widening profile by one or more screw connections . In a preferred embodiment , the end pieces are provided with one or more slots for applying an L-connector, all this such that after mounting the widening profile to the leaf profile , a first leg of the L-connector is applied in the slot of the widening profile and a second leg is applied in a longitudinal groove provided to this end in the leaf profile . Said L-connectors provide for an extra strong connection between the widening profile and the relevant leaf profile . Although there is mention here of an L-connector, alternatively a T-connector can also be used . Preferably, the first leg and the second leg of the L- connector are provided with a screw, all this such that tightening the aforementioned screws stops the first leg from shi fting in the slot and stops the second leg from shi fting in the longitudinal groove . Alternatively, the L-connector can also be provided with other locking means , for example a locking peg or block . More alternatively, said locking means , for example in the form of the aforementioned screw, can be located on the end pieces . In a preferred embodiment , the widening profile and/or the end pieces are provided with detai ling for applying sealing strips and/or glazing beads . For example , said detailing is executed as undercut
