Abstract

A light guide holder and referencing system (100) is provided. The light guide holder and referencing system (100) includes a fastener (140, 240), a headlamp mounting feature (130, 230), and a light emitting diode module (120, 220). The light guide holder and referencing system (100) includes a mounting plate (111, 210) fixed by the fastener (140, 240) between the headlamp mounting feature (130) and the light emitting diode module (120, 220). The light guide holder and referencing system (100) includes a light guide (210) extending from the mounting plate (111, 210) and aligned with at least one light emitting diode of the light emitting diode module (120, 220).

Claims (20)

  1. 1 . A light guide holder and referencing system comprising: a fastener; a headlamp mounting feature; a light emitting diode module; a mounting plate fixed by the fastener between the headlamp mounting feature and the light emitting diode module; and a light guide extending from the mounting plate and aligned with at least one light emitting diode of the light emitting diode module.
  2. 2. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate fixed is sandwiched between the headlamp mounting feature and the light emitting diode module.
  3. 3. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the fastener comprises a screw, a rivet, or a plug.
  4. 4. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate comprises one or more alignment features configured to align the headlamp mounting feature and the light emitting diode module.
  5. 5. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate is integrated with the headlamp mounting feature.
  6. 6. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate is molded together with the light guide.
  7. 7. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate comprises a sperate element where a tip of the light guide is placed therein.
  8. 8. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the fastener penetrates through the light guide holder and referencing system.
  9. 9. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the headlamp mounting feature or the light emitting diode module comprises at least one reference hole.
  10. 10. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate comprises at least one reference pin.
  11. 1 1. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate comprises reference pins on both sides.
  12. 12. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the light emitting diode module comprises a wiring.
  13. 13. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the headlamp mounting feature comprises at least one reference hole that receives at least one reference pin of the mounting plate.
  14. 14. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate comprises a first surface for receiving the light emitting diode module and a second surface for receiving the headlamp mounting feature.
  15. 15. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 14, wherein the second surface is opposite the first surface.
  16. 16. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate comprises one or more guide members configured to mate with the light emitting diode module.
  17. 17. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 16, wherein the one or more guide members comprise a cross shaped peg.
  18. 18. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the light guide comprises a conduit configured to direct light from at least one light emitting diode of the light emitting diode module.
  19. 19. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate comprises an accommodation feature configured to support and manage a wiring of the light emitting diode module.
  20. 20. The light guide holder and referencing system of claim 1 , wherein the light emitting diode module comprises at least one reference hole that receives at least one reference pin of the mounting plate.

Description

LIGHT GUIDE HOLDER AND REFERENCING SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOTIVE LIGHT EMITTING DIODE MODULES CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0001 ] This application claims priority to provisional U.S. Application No. 63/510,690, filed June 28, 2023, the contents of which are incorporated by reference in their entirety. BACKGROUND [0002] Conventional technologies for light guide (“LG”) illumination modules typically require a heat sink to perform alignment and mounting. For instance, a light emitting diode (“LED”) is mounted to a heat sink relative to some mechanical features, and a LG is mounted relative to the same or other mechanical features on the heat sink. Finally, the LG illumination module including the LED and LG is mounted to a headlamp. [0003] Yet, the conventional technologies result in problems and disadvantages for LG illumination modules, for example, a heavy LG illumination module, a required compensation for tolerances within the LG, a long tolerance chain of the LED to the headlamp mounting to the LG mounting, and a requirement of a plurality of elements of the LG illumination modules to be mounted relative to each other. [0004] A solution is needed. SUMMARY [0005] According to one or more embodiments, a light guide holder and referencing system is provided. The light guide holder and referencing system includes a fastener, a headlamp mounting feature, and a light emitting diode module. The light guide holder and referencing system includes a mounting plate fixed by the fastener between the headlamp mounting feature and the light emitting diode module. The light guide holder and referencing system includes a light guide extending from the mounting plate and aligned with at least one light emitting diode of the light emitting diode module. According to one or more embodiments, the light guide holder and referencing system can be implemented as a device and/or an apparatus, while operations and manufacturing of the light guide holder and referencing system can be implemented as a method. [0006] According to one or more embodiments, a light guide holder and referencing system is provided. The light guide holder and referencing system includes light emitting diode module and a combined light guide and headlamp mounting feature comprising a light guide and a headlamp mounting feature. The headlamp mounting feature is configured to receive the light emitting diode module. The light guide extends from the headlamp mounting feature and is aligned with at least one light emitting diode of the light emitting diode module. According to one or more embodiments, the light guide holder and referencing system can be implemented as a device and/or an apparatus, while operations and manufacturing of the light guide holder and referencing system can be implemented as a method.
