Description
The present invention relates to a volumetric metering valve, particularly for liquid, viscous and/or piece-containing products. In the sector of filling machines, volumetric metering valves are known which are interposed between a container to be filled and a tank of product, typically above the container to be filled so that the filling occurs assisted by gravity. In more detail, such conventional valves are fitted with internal elements, the function of which is to open and/or close the inlet and filling openings, respectively, of the tank and of the container, and at the same time to ensure the correct filling of the container, in terms of quantity, homogeneity and purity of the product. However, such conventional valves are not devoid of drawbacks, among which is the fact that they are not capable of ensuring the repeatability of the filling. In fact, the quantity of product between one filling and the next can vary in an uncontrolled manner owing to the viscous nature of the product itself or owing to a lack of homogeneity of the mixture between the liquid and solid components. Another drawback of conventional valves consists in that, at each change of product, or in any case periodically, they require a manual cleaning operation which entails burdensome machine shutdowns. In fact, owing to the residues present inside the valve, each filling can be potentially contaminated with the product residues of the previous filling. In addition, such residues can build up at the seals of the internal elements, in so doing compromising their efficacy. The aim of the present invention consists in providing a volumetric metering valve, particularly for liquid, viscous and/or piece-containing products, that is capable of overcoming the abovementioned drawbacks. Within this aim, an object of the present invention consists in devising a method of operation of a volumetric metering valve, particularly for liquid, viscous and/or piece-containing products, that is capable of overcoming the abovementioned drawbacks. Another object of the present invention consists in providing a volumetric metering valve that offers the widest guarantees of reliability in operation. A further object of the present invention is to provide a volumetric metering valve that can be easily implemented with conventional technologies in the sector and which therefore offers contained manufacturing costs. This aim and these and other objects which will become more apparent hereinafter are achieved by a volumetric metering valve, particularly for liquid, viscous and/or piece-containing products, according to claim 1, optionally provided with the characteristics of one or more of the dependent claims. Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the detailed description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of a volumetric metering valve, particularly for liquid, viscous and/or piece-containing products, which is illustrated by way of non-limiting example with the aid of the accompanying drawings wherein: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a volumetric filling valve according to the invention;Figure 2 is a partially cross-sectional side view of the volumetric filling valve shown in Figure 1;Figures 3 to 10 are eight cross-sectional side views showing, in sequence, the steps of the method of operation of the valve shown in the previous figures. With reference to the figures, the volumetric metering valve, particularly for liquid, viscous and/or piece-containing products, is generally designated with the reference numeral 1 and is configured to be interposed between a storage tank 2 for a liquid, viscous and/or piece-containing product and a container 3 to be filled which is located below the storage tank 2 between an inlet opening 4 defined on the storage tank 2 and a filling opening 5 defined on the container 3. In the embodiment proposed, the valve 1 described below is particularly adapted to filling machines of the rotary type. Advantageously, inside the storage tank 2 there can be conveyor elements 6 proximate to the inlet opening 4 in order to facilitate the step of drawing and ensure a higher precision and repeatability of the solid/liquid mixture that makes up the final product. According to the invention, the valve 1 comprises a valve body 7, which defines inside it an intake duct 8 and a filling duct 9 which can be connected, respectively, to the storage tank 2 and to the container 3 at the respective inlet 4 and filling 5 openings. Advantageously, the ducts 8 and 9 are superimposed and communicating with each other by means of a siphon-equipped duct 10 located on the opposite side with respect to the inlet 4 and the filling 5 openings. In more detail, the intake 8 and filling 9 ducts are substantially rectangular in cross-section in order to ensure a flow of the product in output from the valve 1 that is regular and uniform, and to ensure a higher precision of filling.
