Description

SURGICAL PORT ADD-ON AND ADAPTOR FOR A SURGICAL PORT FIELD AND BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [1] The present invention generally relates to surgical port add-on, an adaptor, modules and methods thereof for producing and using a surgical port especially adapted for cleaning surgical tools operable in a body cavity. Embodiments of the present invention relate to surgical port add-on, an adaptor, modules, and methods thereof an adaptor that can be pertaining to the attached in or on a trocar and for use of the same d for cleaning the lens and light source of an endoscope. [2] A minimally invasive procedure has less operative trauma, post-operative complications, and adverse effects than an equivalent open surgery. Laparoscopic surgery for example, decreases post-operative patient discomfort and healing while reducing hospitalization time and costs. [3] Minimally invasive surgeons rely on minimally invasive instruments operable from outside the body to manipulate target tissues within a body. In order to accurately guide the tools and correctly perform the procedure, surgeons utilize an intrabody scope (endoscope) to visualize the operative end of the tools and the target tissues. Some procedure (e.g., diagnostic procedures) can be performed using an endoscope alone. [4] During a procedure, tissue, blood, and other body fluids can attach to the objective lens of the endoscope and obscure vision. This requires the surgeon to remove the endoscope from the body cavity and clean the objective lens. Some operative procedures require frequent removal of the endoscope for cleaning considerably extending the time of the procedure and increasing the likelihood of infection due to device removal and reintroduction. [5] Numerous solutions to this problem have been proposed, see for example, US6354992, US8047215, US8535220, US8888689, US8945155, US 20090240111, US20140318582, US20150080660; however, there is still a need for an easy, inexpensive, and effective solution for endoscopic lens fouling. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [6] According to some embodiments of the present invention, there is provided a port adaptor for a surgical port comprising an adaptor body and at least one elastomeric band stretched and reaching from one side of adaptor body internal lumen wall to the other side of adaptor body internal lumen wall of the port adaptor body, reaching fully across the internal lumen wall of the port adaptor body. [7] In some embodiments, a plurality of the at least one elastomeric band are placed along the port adapter cannula. [8] In some embodiments, the port adaptor comprises a plurality of the at least one elastomeric band arranged in a grate pattern. [9] In some embodiments, the port adaptor comprises a plurality of the at least one elastomeric band arranged in a crossing pattern. [10] In some embodiments, at least two of the plurality of the at least one elastomeric band cross one another. [11] In some embodiments, the at least one elastomeric band is made from rubber or silicone. [12] In some embodiments, the port adaptor body includes a bulge, a arm (615), or any combination thereof, for securing the port adaptor to the trocar. [13] In some embodiments, the port adaptor whole body is sized and configured for placement inside a cannula of a trocar. [14] In some embodiments, the port adaptor body does not protrude out of the trocar distal opening. [15] In some embodiments, the port adaptor is protrudable out of the trocar cannula, and the plurality of the at least one elastomeric band is presentable out of the trocar cannula. [16] In some embodiments, the plurality of elastomeric bands are connected to arms (500-530) and form a stretchable spatial grid. [17] In some embodiments, the arms (500-530) are configured to (a) bend inwards while inserting the port adaptor into the trocar canula; (b) bend inwards while extracting the port adaptor from the trocar canula; and (c) outwards while an endoscope is passed through the arms while the at least one elastomeric band is configured to clean the endoscopic lens. [18] In some embodiments, the port adaptor body is sized and configured for placement through a proximal opening of the trocar. [19] In some embodiments, the port adaptor includes a proximal housing. [20] In some embodiments, the proximal housing comprises a valve. [21] In some embodiments, the port adaptor is protrudable out of the trocar cannula, and the plurality of the at least one elastomeric band is presentable out of the trocar cannula. [22] In some embodiments, the plurality of the at least one elastomeric band are connected to arms (500-530) and form a stretchable spatial grid. [23] In some embodiments, the arms (500-530) are configured to (a) bend inwards while inserting the port adaptor into the trocar canula; (b) bend inwards while extracting the port adaptor from the trocar canula; and (c) outwards while an endoscope is passed through the arms while the at least one elastomeric band is configured to
