Description

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPTIMIZED SELECTION OF USER DEVICES FOR NEW RADIO AUTOMATIC NEIGHBOUR RELATION TECHNICAL FIELD [0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication systems. More particularly, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to selection of at least one user equipment for a new radio (NR) automatic neighbour relation (ANR). BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE [0002] The following description of the related art is intended to provide background information pertaining to the field of the disclosure. This section may include certain aspects of the art that may be related to various features of the present disclosure. However, it should be appreciated that this section is used only to enhance the understanding of the reader with respect to the present disclosure, and not as admissions of the prior art. [0003] Wireless communication technology has rapidly evolved over the past few decades, with each generation bringing significant improvements and advancements. The first generation of wireless communication technology was based on analog technology and offered only voice services. However, with the advent of the second-generation (2G) technology, digital communication and data services became possible, and text messaging was introduced. 3G technology marked the introduction of high-speed internet access, mobile video calling, and location-based services. The fourth generation (4G) technology revolutionized wireless communication with faster data speeds, better network coverage, and improved security. Currently, the fifth generation (5G) technology is being deployed, promising even faster data speeds, low latency, and the ability to connect multiple devices simultaneously. With each generation, wireless communication technology has become more advanced, sophisticated, and capable of delivering more services to its users. [0004] A neighbour-cell relation refers to a relationship between adjacent or neighbouring cells within a cellular network. An existing neighbour cell relation from a source cell to a target cell means that the base station or the network node controlling the source cell knows the Cell Global Identifier (CGI) and Physical Cell Identifier (PCI) of the target cell and has an entry in the neighbour relation table (NRT) for the source cell identifying the target cell. [0005] Automatic neighbour relation (ANR) is a self-organizing network (SON) feature in cellular networks where neighbouring base stations automatically establish and maintain neighbour relations with each other. This is crucial for functions like handover, load balancing, and interference management. In practice, algorithms and protocols within the network management system handle the selection of UEs for ANR, aiming to optimize network performance and user experience. ANR makes use of user equipment or machine-type communication devices to detect missing neighbours and report these missing neighbours to the network. The network selects a number of ANR enabled user equipment or machine-type communication devices and instructs them to perform ANR operations. [0006] It is observed from field testing that UEs are reporting measurement report with same Physical Cell Identifier (PCI) during ANR algorithm execution. This is resulting in multiple duplicate measurement reports from UEs which wastes the network’s resources to collate and manage. Further, it also results in wastage of resources at the UE side, for example, battery levels of UEs. [0007] Thus, there exists an imperative need in the art to optimize UE selection mechanism during ANR execution, and provide a solution for selection of at least one user equipment for a new radio (NR) automatic neighbour relation (ANR), which the present disclosure aims to address. SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE [0008] This section is provided to introduce certain aspects of the present disclosure in a simplified form that are further described below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify the key features or the scope of the claimed subject matter.
