EP-4741623-A1 - HOLDER FOR ATTACHMENT TO A LADDER OR STEPPING LADDER AND THE HOLDER AND LADDER OR STEPPING LADDER ASSEMBLY
Abstract
The invention describes a holder for attachment to a ladder or stepladder, comprising a support plate and a supporting "U" profile consisting of a base and two side walls. The supporting "U" profile is provided with a handle and is designed to be slid onto the stile of a ladder or stepladder. The holder further comprises a locking device for securing the supporting "U" profile in a selected position, which is formed as at least one manually operated two-position lock with a pawl connected to the supporting "U" profile. The pawl is movable in the plane parallel to the side walls of the supporting "U" profile or in the plane perpendicular to the side walls of the supporting "U" profile. Thanks to the manually operated two-position lock with the locking pawl, the lock position can be easily changed from the open to the closed position with one hand, which in practice means that when the locking pawl is in the open position, pushing or pulling on the locking pawl opens it, and by releasing the pull or push on the locking pawl, the manually operated two-position lock moves into the closed position.

Description
field of technology The invention relates to accessories for ladders or stepladders, in particular a holder for attachment to a ladder or stepladder and a holder and ladder or stepladder assembly. The current state of the art A ladder or stepladder is a work aid for working at heights greater than a person's height. When working on a ladder or stepladder, safety is always paramount when maneuvering at height. Ladders and stepladders are typically used by tradespeople such as painters, electricians, roofers, plumbers, or DIY enthusiasts for various jobs around the house and garden. When working on a ladder or stepladder, the user usually needs additional equipment, such as tools, a bucket of paint or water, or other accessories. Tool storage can be solved with various multi-purpose belts with pouches, which are used, for example, by electricians, allowing them to keep all the necessary tools for working at height without having to climb down from the ladder or stepladder each time. However, such equipment cannot be used, for example, by a painter who needs to lift a bucket or can of paint, or by other tradespeople who need to work at height with heavier tools such as a drill. Therefore, holders are used that can be attached to a ladder or stepladder and are manufactured in various ways. Most commonly, holders are used that can be attached to the horizontal rungs of a ladder or stepladder using a connector based on a suspension device or hook. Such a solution is described, for example, in the document [document name missing in original text]. US 11136822 A shelf can also be attached to the hanging device or hook, on which a can of paint, a bucket of water, or other small and larger tools can be placed. The main disadvantage of this solution is that the shelf is located in the space between the horizontal rungs of the ladder or stepladder, i.e., in the space where a person ascends or descends. Therefore, there is a possibility that someone could accidentally knock something over such a holder. If someone trips, all the equipment stored on the tray falls to the ground, breaks, or spills, or even if someone wobbles or falls from a ladder or stepladder, such holders are impractical and can even be dangerous. This disadvantage is eliminated by brackets for attaching ladders or stepladders, which can be mounted on the side of the ladder or stepladder stiles, i.e., outside the area where a person moves up or down. Such a bracket solution is described, for example, in the documents US 20110079467 and US 4032100 The described method uses a vise-based fastener to attach the holder to the ladder or stepladder stile. The two arms of this vise encircle the stile and are tightened with a clamping screw. While such a vise provides a stable connection to the ladder or stepladder stile, the overall handling of the holder is very complicated and cumbersome. Therefore, holders are known that eliminate these disadvantages and simplify the attachment of the holder to a ladder or stepladder, such that the connecting element comprises a load-bearing "U" profile that is placed on the stile of the ladder or stepladder, thus enclosing it. This load-bearing "U" profile is equipped either with an additional hook or an additional suspension device for attaching to the horizontal rung of a ladder or stepladder, as shown in the document. US 4560127 As described, or a hook is milled directly into the body of the supporting "U" profile, which is then hooked directly onto the horizontal rung of a ladder or stepladder. Such a solution is described, for example, in the documents. US 2883134 , US 1880319 or US 2598479 The supporting "U" profile can be equipped with a handle for easier handling, for example, for easy placement and removal from the ladder or stepladder stile. These holders represent a simple solution in principle, but also have disadvantages, particularly since they are not secured and can therefore easily fall off, even with only minor mishandling of the ladder or stepladder. Furthermore, none of the aforementioned documents include a shelf, but only various hooks or support arms for hanging a can of paint. Therefore, these holders are not universally suitable for use by different tradespeople, for example, for storing various tools and cans or buckets of paint or water. The object of the invention is therefore to provide such a holder for fastening to a ladder or stepladder, as well as an assembly consisting of the holder and the ladder or stepladder. The goal is to create a holder that eliminates the aforementioned shortcomings. This holder can be attached to the side of a ladder or stepladder without obstructing work, is easy to attach and remove, and therefore simple to use. Another objective is to develop a universal holder that can be used by a wide range of tradespeople or DIY enthusiasts, is stable, can bear a heavier load, and prevents the ladder or stepladder from tipping over, even when moved. Finally, the holder sho
