Abstract
In one aspect, an example method to be performed by a vehicle-based media system includes (a) receiving audio content; (b) causing one or more speakers to output the received audio content; (c) using a microphone of the vehicle-based media system to capture the output audio content; (d) identifying reference audio content that has at least a threshold extent of similarity with the captured audio content; (e) identifying a geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content; and (f) based at least on the identified geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content, outputting, via the user interface of the vehicle-based media system, a prompt to navigate to the identified geographic location.

Claims (15)
- A vehicle-based media system (200, 300) comprising: a user interface (108); one or more speakers; one or more processors (102); and a non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors (102), cause the vehicle-based media system (200, 300) to perform a set of operations comprising: receiving audio content; causing the one or more speakers to output the received audio content; determining an audio fingerprint of the audio content; determining first geographic location data associated with the vehicle-based media system (200, 300); and based on the determined audio fingerprint of the audio content and first geographic location data associated with the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), performing a navigation-related action.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of claim 1, wherein the audio content comprises an audio advertisement.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of claim 1 or 2, wherein the first geographic location data includes (i) a current geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), (ii) a destined geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), or (iii) a geographic location on a route between the current geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300) and the destined geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300).
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the operations further comprise: identifying reference audio content that has at least a threshold extent of similarity with the audio content; and identifying a second geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content, wherein performing a navigation-related action comprises: based at least on the determined audio fingerprint of the audio content, the first geographic location data associated with the vehicle, and the identified second geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content, outputting, via the user interface (108) of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), a prompt to navigate to the identified second geographic location, optionally based on the first geographic location being within a threshold proximity of the second geographic location.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of claim 4, wherein identifying reference audio content that has at least a threshold extent of similarity with the audio content comprises: comparing the determined audio fingerprint of the audio content to a plurality of reference audio fingerprint items; and determining that a particular reference audio fingerprint item of the plurality of reference audio fingerprint items has at least the threshold extent of similarity with the determined audio fingerprint.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of any of claims 4 to 5, further comprising a microphone, wherein the operations further comprise using the microphone of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300) to capture the output audio content, and wherein identifying reference audio content that has at least a threshold extent of similarity with the audio content comprises identifying reference audio content that has at least a threshold extent of similarity with the captured audio content.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of any of claims 1 to 6, wherein receiving the audio content comprises receiving primary audio content and secondary audio content, wherein causing the one or more speakers to output the received audio content comprises causing the one or more speakers to output the primary audio content and the secondary audio content, wherein the primary audio content comprises entertainment content, and wherein the secondary audio content comprises advertisement content interspersed among the primary audio content.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of claim 6 or claim 7 when dependent on claim 6, wherein: using the microphone of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300) to capture the output audio content comprises using the microphone of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300) to capture the secondary audio content; and identifying reference audio content that has at least the threshold extent of similarity with the captured audio content comprises identifying reference audio content that has at least the threshold extent of similarity with the captured secondary audio content.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of claim 8, wherein identifying the second geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content comprises identifying a geographic location related to particular advertisement content of the secondary audio content, and wherein outputting the prompt to navigate to the identified second geographic location comprises, while causing the one or more speakers to output the particular advertisement content of the secondary audio content, outputting the prompt to navigate to the second geographic location related to the particular advertisement content.
- The vehicle-based media system (200, 300) of claim 4 or any of claims 5 to 9 when dependent on claim 4, wherein the set of operations further comprises: receiving, via the user interface (108) of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), a selection of the prompt to navigate to the identified second geographic location; and in response to receiving the selection of the prompt, outputting, via the user interface (108) of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), directions for navigating to the identified second geographic location.
- A method to be performed by a vehicle-based media system (200, 300), the method comprising: receiving audio content; causing one or more speakers to output the received audio content; determining an audio fingerprint of the audio content; determining first geographic location data associated with the vehicle-based media system (200, 300); and based on the determined audio fingerprint of the audio content and first geographic location data associated with the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), performing a navigation-related action.
- The method of claim 11, wherein the audio content comprises an audio advertisement.
- The method of claim 11 or 12, wherein the first geographic location data includes (i) a current geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), (ii) a destined geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), or (iii) a geographic location on a route between the current geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300) and the destined geographic location of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300).
- The method of any of claims 11 to 13, further comprising: identifying reference audio content that has at least a threshold extent of similarity with the audio content; and identifying a second geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content, wherein performing a navigation-related action comprises: based at least on the determined audio fingerprint of the audio content, the first geographic location data associated with the vehicle, and the identified second geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content, outputting, via a user interface (108) of the vehicle-based media system (200, 300), a prompt to navigate to the identified second geographic location, optionally based on the first geographic location being within a threshold proximity of the second geographic location.
- A non-transitory, computer-readable medium, having stored thereon program instructions that, upon execution by a vehicle-based media system (200, 300), cause the vehicle-based media system (200, 300) to perform the method of any one of claims 11 to 14.

USAGE AND TERMINOLOGY In this disclosure, unless otherwise specified and/or unless the particular context clearly dictates otherwise, the terms "a" or "an" mean at least one, and the term "the" means the at least one. In this disclosure, the term "connection mechanism" means a mechanism that facilitates communication between two or more components, devices, systems, or other entities. A connection mechanism can be a relatively simple mechanism, such as a cable or system bus, or a relatively complex mechanism, such as a packet-based communication network (e.g., the Internet). In some instances, a connection mechanism can include a non-tangible medium (e.g., in the case where the connection is wireless). BACKGROUND Vehicle-based media systems can receive media content to be presented to an occupant of a vehicle. For example, a vehicle-based media system can include an antenna configured to receive a radio signal, such as a satellite radio signal or a terrestrial radio signal, that is carrying audio content, and the vehicle-based media system can output the audio content through one or more speakers located within the vehicle. SUMMARY In one aspect, an example vehicle-based media system is disclosed. The example vehicle-based media system comprises (a) a user interface, (b) a microphone, (c) one or more processors, and (d) a non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vehicle-based media system to perform a set of acts comprising: (a) receiving audio content; (b) causing one or more speakers to output the received audio content; (c) using the microphone of the vehicle-based media system to capture the output audio content; (d) identifying reference audio content that has at least a threshold extent of similarity with the captured audio content; (e) identifying a geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content; and (f) based at least on the identified geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content, outputting, via the user interface of the vehicle-based media system, a prompt to navigate to the identified geographic location. In some embodiments, the identified geographic location associated with the identified reference audio content is a first geographic location, the set of operations further comprises determining a second geographic location associated with the vehicle-based media system, and outputting the prompt to navigate to the identified geographic location comprises outputting a prompt to navigate to the first geographic location based on the first geographic location being within a threshold proximity of the second geographic location. In some embodiments, determining the second geographic location associated with the vehicle-based media system comprises determining (i) a current geographic location of the vehicle-based media system, (ii) a destined geographic location of the vehicle-based media system, or (iii) a geographic location on a route between the current geographic location of the vehicle-based media system and the destined geographic location of the vehicle-based media system. In some embodiments, receiving the audio content comprises receiving primary audio content and secondary audio content, causing the one or more speakers to output the received audio content comprises causing the one or more speakers to output the primary audio content and the secondary audio content, the primary audio content comprises entertainment content, and the secondary audio content comprises advertisement content interspersed among the primary content. In some embodiments, using the microphone of the vehicle-based media system to capture the output audio content comprises using the microphone of the vehicle-based media system to capture the secondary audio content; and identifying reference audio content that has at least the threshold extent of similarity with the captured audio content comprises identifying reference audio content that has at least the threshold extent of similarity with the captured secondary audio content.
