Abstract

ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAY DEVICE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH A DEVICE, AND ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAY SYSTEM One aspect of the invention relates to a method for manufacturing an electroluminescent display device from islands separated by a trench, the method comprising: filling the trench with an insulating structural element; forming a protective tape (108) partially covering each of the islands and overlapping the structural element; partially engraving the structural element so as to form a pillar (109) under the protective tape, such that the latter has cantilevered portions (110a, 110b); and the deposition of an organic layer resulting in two distinct and separate portions: a first portion extending continuously over each island and the protective strip, and a second portion extending over the substrate.
