CUTTING-SEALING DIE FOR FILEED SANDWICH

Abstract

The present invention relates to a cutting-sealing die for a filled sandwich. The die features a cutting protrusion in the form of a continuous band around its perimeter, a sealing zone enclosed by the cutting protrusion, and a retention zone enclosed by the sealing zone. The height of the cutting protrusion is equal to the height of the sealing zone. Both are smaller than the combined thickness of the two slices of bread of the sandwich before sealing, when the filling is not interposed between the bread slices. The thickness of the retention zone is approximately equal to or slightly lessthan the thickness of the sandwich prior to sealing. Sealing is achieved by applying pressure from the die onto the unsealed sandwich in the direction of the sandwich's support surface, causing plastic deformation of the bread's sealing zones. The die and/or the sandwich support surface may be curved, and the support surface may feature a three-dimensional configuration corresponding to that of the die.
