Abstract

The invention is an energy absorber apparatus comprising a first part (1) and a second part (2) inserted into the first part (1). The first part (1) includes a first shell (10) extending in the axial direction (x), a first end plate (11) fixed to the first shell (10) and a second end plate (12) fixed to the first shell (10) at a second end thereof. The second part (2) includes a second shell (20) extending in the axial direction (x), a first end plate (23) fixed to the second shell (20) and a fourth end plate (24) fixed to the second shell (20) at a second end thereof. The second shell (20) can be slid into the first shell (10) and the third end plate (23) and the fourth end plate (24) can be moved together in the axial direction (x). The first shell (10), the first end plate (11) and the third end plate (23) define a first space portion (17) of variable volume, which is filled with energy-absorbing material.The second shell (20), the second end plate (12) and the fourth end plate (24) define a second space portion (27) of variable volume. The second space portion (27) is filled with energy-absorbing material. The energy- absorber apparatus comprises an air gap at the second (12) and third end plates (23) to ensure the inflow of air.
