Description
While this disclosure highlights preferred embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made to this disclosure without departing from the scope or spirit of this disclosure. Other embodiments of this disclosure will be apparent to those skilled in the art from considerations herein and the practices of this disclosure disclosed herein. This specification and the examples are intended to be illustrative only, and the true scope and spirit of this disclosure are defined by the following claims. In certain embodiments, for example, the following items are provided: (Item 1) A tag for labeling a biomolecule, comprising a polymer backbone ending with a terminal group capable of stoichiometrically binding to the biomolecule, and one or more pendant portions each bound to the polymer backbone and capable of chelating with an element. (Item 2) The tag described in item 1 is biocompatible. (Item 3) The tag according to item 1 or 2, wherein the polymer main chain is selected from the group consisting of polypeptides, polypeptoids, polyβ-peptides, polyγ-peptides, polyδ-peptides, and derivatives thereof. (Item 4) The tag according to any one of items 1 to 3, wherein the polymer main chain is a homopolymer or copolymer. (Item 5) The tag according to any one of items 1 to 4, wherein the polymer main chain is formed by polymerization of monomers selected from the group consisting of NCA, NTAα-amino acids, β-amino acids, γ-amino acids, δ-amino acids, N-substituted amino acids and their derivatives. (Item 6) The tag described in item 5, wherein the N-substituted amino acid is N-substituted glycine. (Item 7) The tag according to item 5 or 6, wherein the degree of polymerization of the polymer main chain is between 10 and 1000. (Item 8) The tag described in item 7, wherein the degree of polymerization of the polymer main chain is between 50 and 300. (Item 9) The tag according to any one of items 1 to 8, wherein the polymer main chain has a polydispersity index of less than 1.4. (Item 10) The tag according to any one of items 1 to 9, wherein the pendant portion is capable of chelating with a metal or its isotope. (Item 11) A tag according to any one of items 1 to 10, wherein the number of pendant portions attached to the polymer main chain is between 10 and 1000. (Item 12) The tag according to item 11, wherein the number of pendant portions attached to the polymer main chain is between 50 and 300. (Item 13) The tag according to any one of items 1 to 12, wherein the pendant portion is selected from the group consisting of EDTA, DTPA, DCTA, DOTA, TETA, NOTA, and derivatives thereof. (Item 14) The pendant portion is a tag as described in item 13, selected from DOTA or DTPA. (Item 15) The tag according to any one of items 1 to 14, wherein each of the one or more pendant portions is directly bonded to the polymer main chain. (Item 16) The tag according to any one of items 1 to 14, wherein each of the one or more pendant portions is bonded to the polymer main chain via a linker. (Item 17) The tag according to item 16, wherein the linker contains a 1,2,3-triazole group. (Item 18) The tag according to item 16 or 17, wherein the linker is bonded to the polymer main chain or the pendant portion via a spacer.
