Description

The static elimination device of the present invention comprises: a static elimination member that contacts a conveyed sheet and eliminates static electricity from the sheet by applying a voltage; a moving unit that moves the static elimination member to a contact position in contact with the sheet and a retracted position spaced away from the sheet ; and a control unit capable of performing a first process of eliminating static electricity from the sheet by applying a voltage to the static elimination member while the static elimination member is positioned at the contact position; and a second process of not eliminating static electricity from the sheet by not applying a voltage to the static elimination member while the static elimination member is positioned at the contact position. The control unit is characterized in that, in a mixed loading job in which a first type of sheet and a second type of sheet different from the first type are conveyed, the first process is performed on the first type of sheet and the second process is performed on the second type of sheet; and in the mixed loading job, when a predetermined number of second type sheets are continuously conveyed to the static elimination member, the control unit is capable of performing a third process of not eliminating static electricity from the sheet by moving the static elimination member to the retracted position using the moving unit .
