Description

This invention relates to examination gowns. Breast examinations using MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) are generally performed in the prone position (lying face down). Recently, a method has been developed for performing breast MRI examinations without the use of contrast agents. This method allows the MRI examination to be performed while the patient is wearing an examination gown. For example, Patent Document 1 proposes a medical garment in which the upper part of the sleeve from either the left or right shoulder, and the lower part of the sleeve from the armpit, are continuously openable. In this medical garment, the open shoulder-to-upper-sleeve section and the lower part of the sleeve from the armpit can be closed with plastic snap buttons. Patent Document 1 states that because the snap buttons are made of plastic, changing clothes for examinations where metal cannot be brought in, such as MRI scans, becomes unnecessary.
