Claims (3)

  1. A control device for an automatic transmission in a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission that transmits power between the engine and the drive wheels, A position detection unit for detecting the position of the vehicle, A road information acquisition unit acquires road information including information about the road on which the vehicle travels and information about the traffic conditions on said road. A control device for an automatic transmission, comprising: a control unit that predicts a specific point where the vehicle speed falls below a predetermined speed from the road information, and when the distance between the specific point and the position detected by the position detection unit becomes less than or equal to a predetermined distance, the control unit that downshifts the automatic transmission if downshifting of the automatic transmission is possible.
  2. The control device for an automatic transmission according to claim 1, characterized in that the predetermined distance is set to be longer than the braking distance corresponding to the vehicle speed.

The control device for an automatic transmission according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the specified location includes at least one of the following: an intersection requiring a stop due to a red light, an intersection requiring a temporary stop, a location entering a railway crossing, a location entering a school zone, and a location where a speed breaker is installed.

Description

This invention relates to a control device for an automatic transmission. Conventionally, Patent Document 1 proposes a technology for an automatic transmission's gear control system that detects road gradient from the relationship between accelerator opening and vehicle speed, and selects a gear map that changes the gear ratio of the automatic transmission to a lower (lower speed) side than usual according to the gradient, thereby generating appropriate engine braking on downhill roads.
