Abstract
[Problem] To provide a light-based hair removal device that can accurately irradiate only the area to be treated with light, even in narrow or uneven areas. [Solution] A light hair removal device that performs hair removal by irradiating light onto the skin surface has an irradiation unit that generates irradiation light for hair removal and guides it to the area to be treated, the irradiation unit comprises a light-emitting unit that generates irradiation light for hair removal and a transmission unit that guides the irradiation light to the area to be treated, the transmission unit comprises a filter glass that transmits only light in a wavelength band suitable for hair removal and a light guide member that protrudes in a direction along the direction of propagation of the light that has passed through the filter glass, and the light hair removal device includes one or more optical fibers having a core layer and a cladding layer with different refractive indices in order to cause light incident from one end in the longitudinal direction to be emitted from the other end. Description
An application for the application of Article 30, Paragraph 2 of the Patent Law was filed. The patent was exhibited at Beautyworld Japan Osaka (19th edition) from October 21st to 23rd, 2024. This invention relates to a light-based hair removal device that performs hair removal treatment by irradiation with light. Traditionally, hair removal using light involves irradiating the hair follicle with light in a wavelength range that reacts to the melanin pigment in the hair root. Light-based hair removal works by irradiating the skin with light, which is absorbed by the melanin pigment in and around the hair root. This heats the hair root, causing thermal denaturation of the proteins that make up the hair root, thereby suppressing hair regrowth. The light-based hair removal device used in light-based hair removal has a built-in light source suitable for hair removal, and is equipped with an irradiation window. The device is designed so that the light necessary for hair removal is emitted to the outside through this irradiation window. The user holds the device, places the irradiation window in contact with the area to be treated, and presses the irradiation button on the device to activate the light source. This causes thermal damage to the hair bulb (dermal papilla and hair matrix cells, etc.) located at the base of the hair follicle, resulting in hair removal. Such light-based hair removal devices have recently been sold as home-use devices, and light-based hair removal treatments are now being performed at home. An example of a home-use light-based hair removal device is disclosed in Patent Document 1 below. The light-based hair removal device described in Patent Document 1 has a light irradiation window on the main body and a touch sensor that detects whether or not the main body is in contact with the skin, with the light irradiation window and the touch sensor located on the same surface. This light-based hair removal device controls the emission of light from a xenon lamp that emits hair removal light depending on whether or not the touch sensor is in contact with the skin. According to this light-based hair removal device, the xenon lamp does not emit light when the touch sensor is not in contact with the skin, and emits light when the touch sensor is in contact with the skin.
