Claims (3)

  1. A recording device mounted on a vehicle, comprising: an imaging unit for imaging the area surrounding the vehicle; an input unit including a video provision instruction button for receiving operations from the vehicle's occupants; a storage unit for storing the video captured by the imaging unit as recording data in a storage device; a communication unit for communicating with an external information provision device; and a control unit that, in response to the pressing of the video provision instruction button, causes the information provision device to receive the recording data captured by the imaging unit and stored in the storage device during a predetermined period from the time the button is pressed, via communication from the communication unit.
  2. An information providing device comprising: a recording data collection unit that collects recording data from a recording device according to claim 1; a message information collection unit that collects message information posted to a social networking service and related to the recording data, based on the date and time information and location information included in the recording data; a map attribute for the recording data, indicating a map for a specific purpose that maps the recording data, based on words included in the message information related to the recording data; a storage unit that stores the recording data and the determined map attribute in association; a receiving unit that receives a request for the provision of the recording data, including the map attribute; and a providing unit that, in response to receiving the request, retrieves the recording data associated with the map attribute included in the request from the storage unit and provides it to the requester.
  3. An information provision method comprising: a recording data collection step for collecting recording data including video footage, date and time information indicating the date and time the video was captured, and location information indicating the location where the video was captured; a message information collection step for collecting message information posted to a social networking service that relates to the recording data, based on the date and time information and location information included in the recording data; a determination step for determining map attributes for the recording data, which indicate a map for a specific purpose to which the recording data is mapped, based on words included in the message information related to the recording data; a storage step for storing the recording data and the determined map attributes in association; a reception step for receiving a request for the recording data that includes the map attributes; and a provision step for providing the recording data associated with the map attributes included in the request to the requester in response to the receipt of the request.

Description

This invention relates to a technology for providing video. A system is known that collects video recording data from recording devices such as dashcams via a communication network. For example, a data acquisition system is known in which an imaging device with pre-set conditions for the image data to be collected transmits image data that satisfies those conditions to a data acquisition device, thereby enabling the rapid collection of desired data (see, for example, Patent Document 1). The embodiments will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Figure 1 shows an example configuration of Information Provision System 1. The information provision system 1 comprises an information provision device 10 and multiple recording devices 20. The information provision device 10 and the recording devices 20 can exchange various types of data via a communication network 30. Furthermore, the information provision device 10 can exchange various types of data with a mobile terminal 40 via a communication line (not shown), and can also exchange various types of data with a social networking service (SNS) server 50. Multiple recording devices 20 are installed, one in each of the multiple vehicles 60. The recording devices 20 store the recorded video data (live street video 21-1) of the area around the vehicle 60 captured by the vehicle 60 in a storage device. The recording devices 20 are equipped with a clock to obtain date and time information indicating the date and time the video 21 was captured, and a location detection device, such as a GPS (Global Positioning System) device, to obtain location information indicating the location where the video 21 was captured. The recording devices 20 add the date and time information and location information to the recorded video data 21 and store it. In this embodiment, the recording device 20 is equipped with a video provision instruction button as one of the input units 23. This video provision instruction button is pressed by a vehicle 60 occupant while capturing video 21 of a subject of interest. Such subjects include, but are not limited to, traffic disruptions such as road congestion, flooded roads, road closures, traffic accidents, and roadside fires; individuals with unnatural attire or behavior; and events such as street performances and live music. The recording device 20 sends the recorded video data 21 of the subject of interest, recorded during the period from the pressing of the video provision instruction button until a predetermined time has elapsed, to the information provision device 10. The length of the video recording time represented in the sent recording data can be freely set. Furthermore, the transmission of the recorded data to the information provision device 10 may occur immediately after recording is completed, after a predetermined time has elapsed, or in response to a request for recording data transmission from the information provision device 10. The information providing device 10 collects video recording data 21 sent from each of the multiple recording devices 20, and also collects message information related to the collected recording data from the SNS server 50. The information providing device 10 determines the attributes of the recording data by analyzing the collected message information. Furthermore, when the information providing device 10 receives a request for recording data, including attribute specifications, from the mobile terminal 40, it provides the recording data with the specified attributes to the mobile terminal 40. The mobile terminal 40 is, for example, a smartphone carried by the user or a ta
