Description
This invention relates to a reel holding device for holding a reel containing a carrier tape with components enclosed within it, and to a component mounting device comprising this reel holding device. Conventionally, component mounting equipment is known that manufactures mounted circuit boards by supplying components via a component supply unit and transferring those components to the board using a work head. While various component supply units exist, tape feeders, which transport carrier tapes containing components and supply them to the component supply port, are widely used. Since tape feeders pull in and transport the carrier tape unwound from a reel, the component mounting equipment requires a reel holding device to hold the reel. The reel holding device can typically hold not only the current reel, which is the reel from which the component supply unit is unwounding the carrier tape, but also a replenishment reel (see, for example, Patent Document 1 below). In the reel holding device described in Patent Document 1 above, the current reel is installed at the back from the operator's perspective, and the replenishment reel is installed at the front from the operator's perspective. The current reel's wound carrier tape is directly supported by the reel holding device. When the carrier tape is pulled by the parts supply unit, it rotates in place, unwinding the carrier tape.
